New Z4 Owner

Hi,

Two days ago I took delivery of a brand new (must have been one of the last off the assembly line) Z4 2.0SE Roadster in sapphire black with the following options : M seats, Elec Fold Mirrors, Chromeline, PDC, Multi-func sport steering wheel, 17" 105 wheels. The car looks fantastic (will get some pics soon) and so far I'm loving it, especially with the top down.

The one area that is taking a bit of getting used to is the ride which seems a bit harder than I remember in my test drive, but maybe it's more noticeable after driving it more. I have read all the reviews and understand it's a sports car which is why I stayed away from the sport edition (with stiffer suspension) and 18" wheels. But even the model I have gone for does seem a bit harsh at times on our UK roads. I have come from a 3 series saloon which had a very comfortable ride so maybe it's a big change to get used to. Just wondered what comments other Z4 owners might have about the ride, and how it compares with other 2 seaters such as S2000, Boxter, TT Roadster, MX5 etc. I also read here that the factory fitted Bridgestones can contribute and Michelins give a better ride?

Cheers,

Jonathan

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your purchase. I have a Z4M Coupe and our roads here are terrible so the ride is harsh. Get used to it. :)

Welcome to the forum

Ride is firm... Ive got the Michelin runflats (PS2 ZP) and they are *much* better than the bridgestones :D

jonathan2708, welcome to the forum...
Yes, changing out the RF's will make a big difference... :driving:

Wow, PDC and electric folding mirrors? Why the heck are there two different options lists???? :x

Congratulations on the car. BTW, the *last* one off the assembly line was a 3 liter in space grey (check out the homecoming photos-it rolled off on Thursday, August 28th, the day before Homecoming started)

Welcome  Re the ride i find it OK and i am on 18s + run flats but i did come from a lowered car so the Z4 feels OK a bit bouncy(not good next day after beers and a ruby) but in my old car any sort of manhole cover or pothole would crash through the cabin and steering wheel but in the Z i just get a bump much nicer. :D

MMMMMMMMMMM sounds a nice colour any pics.

Hi everybody, thanks for all the replies, seems a cheerful bunch on here! :)

I'm finding the more I drive it the more I'm getting used to the ride. I actually find it better with the roof down, but that's probably due to being distracted by the pleasure of roofless driving.

To answer a couple of questions, yes I got both PDC and elec fold mirrors - are they not always available on the same list? The mirrors are handy as I have a very narrow garage.

The chromeline option gives chrome door handles, gear stick, centre pieces in the steering wheel and chrome roll bars. I'm really pleased with this option as it gives a real boost to the look of the interior. The roll bars in particular look great IMHO compared to the plain grey ones.

I don't have a digital camera but I know a man who does so will try and get some pics on this weekend.

Sapphire black is a great choice.....

and the chrome sounds like it would go nicely

Hi,

Just a follow up on the ride, I checked my tyre pressures after reading a few messages on here and it looks like they are over-inflated. The sticker on my driver door sill indicates 2.0 bar on the front (29 PSI) and 2.2 bar on the rear (32 PSI). Mine have come delivered as 33PSI front, 36PSI rear which seems to match most peoples comments here (other than M owners). Does 29/32 seem low to people?
