Hi guys, I've just traded my E46 M3 for an M roadster (silver, CSL wheels, black leather). Fantastic car, loving every minute of it. It's even better than the M3! I've got a couple of questions though (apologies if they've been done before).
Where is the compressor for inflating punctured tyres supposed to be kept as mine appears to have gone! I'm guessing on top of the battery box in the boot.
Whats the best system to connect an Ipod as mine doesnt have a CD changer which is the only thing letting it down.
Also on the M3, when the sport button was pressed at fairly slow speed with high revs, the car would 'lunge' forward with the increased throttle response. The Z doesn't do this, is this normal?
There is a push in handle at the top of the storage unit behind the seats, similar to the one half way up that opens the storage. Does this do anything?
One last thing, can the key be programmed to raise the hood as well as lower it?
Thanks in advance.

welcome- pics please!
The handle is there to release the roof for manual op if the motor fails.
The roof canm be programmed to raise on the key- where u based?

welcome. :worthless:
U can lower the roof by continuing to press the unlock button, after unlocking the car, 2secs later the windows lower and then the roof, takes about 10-12secs. if u interrupt then the process starts. U need to programme to get roof up(health and safety hence not standard.)
Yes the M mobility kit is just above the battery in the boot.

welcome enjoy... Pics? btw, is the roof down button on the key standard? Do you just hold the button for longer?

Welcome to the forum and z4 ownership...

Rudd_2002 - key has to be programmed to do the roof on most...

Welcome buddy, good choice of motor. I swapped my E46 M3 Convert for a Z4MC and have not looked back, ref the Sport button, it is normal on my Z not to lurch forward. Happy motoring.

Some pics. I'm in Manchester, near the Trafford Centre. Had a look at a previous post by the person I bought it off and he's mentioned the M mobility being missing when he bought it :x
Need to stop myself from cleaning it every other day now!
Cheers for the info, great site!

Nice car  Oh, and welcome.

Can't say I've noticed any lurching going on when I've pressed the sport button.

It's a strange thing though - if the sports button had been an optional extra, I'm sure I wouldn't have considered buying a car that didn't have it. But after nine months of ownership, I find I hardly ever use mine really.

Yes roof down is standard, just cont to hold it longer. if u interrupt it doesnt work. dont get impatient.

i think the sport mode only engages when you release the throttle...presumably to stop the lurch.

I knew from the first post that the car the OP bought was one of the cars from here. Guess it's because there are so few. :)

Nice car anyway, welcome.

Congratulations on the purchase and welcome to the forum.

I always drove the 3.0Si with the Sport button enabled (mainly for slightly better steering) but have not yet really used it in the M. Tried it a few days ago at a standstill and had a bit of a donkey drive off when I pulled away from the junction.

Why BMW set the electronics to need you to manually select "Sport" on start up is beyond my simple mind! Why build a 346BHP Sportscar to ask the driver to have to press a stupid button every time the car is started just to get reasonable throttle response?

Without the "Sport" button selected the Z4M is an absolute slug - & embarrassing to say the least. :? I ALWAYS select "Sport" on start up & personally return over 27 mpg. All my journey's are less than 7 miles (round trip) to buy a newspaper & packet of fags - daily. Yet I've not realised less than 27 mpg in 8 months of ownership. I might add that I regularly hit 120-130 overtaking cars on the way home - but still average 27mpg 8)

I'd disagree all over this statement Mike, I find the standard throttle response very 'reasonable', I also enjoy the additional slip from DSC when sport is engaged, perhaps thats just the fact the back end gets out marginally quicker before being reigned in......

I'd hardly call it a slug, besides, what your actually saying is that its a slug until you press the pedal a furthur 1/2 inch ? Surely your brain sends the foot that way until suitable acceleration is felt eh?

Oh and I've got to ask, do you work in UK and use pubic roads to get to work ? If so, after EVERYTHING you've said, and there has been some BS on here and PH - is it wise to claim that you regulary exceed twice the national speed limit on public roads ? Not so 8) Mike, more

Nearly forgot ! : :tumbleweed:

There he goes, Shitting bull u have qutie active recently, I hope u r driving a MZ4 and not something ridiculous and fantasise about u being in the M. I can see u hallucinate more than any of us. ANyway I would think twice before admitting to driving like a madman on public roads. I hope no policeman is reading this post. :poke:
