Just saying Hi

Live close to Thruxton Circuit :driving:

Always liked the look of the Z4 and decided to buy a 2009 23i from a main dealer as a 2nd car.

Picked the car up on Wednesday, possibly the worst handover customer service from any main dealer I have ever experienced.

Decided on sunday to run through the controls with my wife and get an idea of how the roof works, only to find there are problems with the retractable hardtop.

And just to add insult to injury, I had to drive the car onto the back of a low loader as a) BMW technicians dont cover my area b) the recovery driver didnt have any seat covers (cream leather and oily jeans dont mix) :headbang:

Not fun so far, car recovered to a.n.other main dealer, awaiting update etc

Wish me luck

oh....got the iphone paired with the blue tooth OK...just that the phone and the car are now 30miles apart :sos:

Welcome. Not a good start to Z ownership, hopefully it'll get better. I used to live in Andover now in Southampton. Been to the circuit for a few BSB events.

,who is it by the way

Things will always go wrong but its what you do to fix it that counts.....

Lets see if they are really bothered with customer service and then I'll spill the beans :?

Thanks for the welcomes :D

The car has been in with Harwoods Basingstoke who so far have been very helpful....

After a couple of attempts on the diagnostic , the ECU and some peripheral micro switches have been changed, unsure of the cost but think parts were around £350 plus about a day in the work shop .......

All seems to be OK and the roof is working, glad this was done under warranty

Have also received £40 as a gesture of goodwill for the wallyish service from BMW recovery....

Just have the original dealer to sort out....so more to follow...

On a brighter note took the car to Goodwood this morning, 1st real chance to drive it...extremely impressed with the auto box in sports mode for straight line acceleration feels a lot faster than the book figures, think it is going to take me a while to beat the box with the paddles :driving:

Here goes

Prearranged collection time with notice etc

The handover took 3hours 15mins

Car not ready when I arrived ie not cleaned
Paperwork not ready although all scanned and sent in advance
No service history with docs
Service not carried out (part of the deal although not actually needed until next month)
Refund of deposit not made
Private plates not ready
Less than a gallon of fuel in the car

Waited 2hours 30mins to actually see the car (as it was just being MOT'd)

Add to that a 7 hour round trip from home to the dealer and back again

This was the first and absolutely the last time I will buy from a video inspection, I thought completely wrongly that as there was a BMW logo on the website and a BMW sign over the door that I could buy with confidence, how wrong was I.......

That's awful! I think some naming and shaming along with a polite yet firm letter to the dealer principle is in order.

Nevertheless, congratulations on your new purchase!

Hope it treats you wel!
