Hi everyone,
I pick up a Z4 Coupe 3.0 Si SE within the next few weeks.
I love to modify my cars and also really enjoy being a part of forums. The Z4 is a completely new car to me and I have very little knowledge of BMWs in general. My past expreience starts and ends with an E46 320d I owned many moons ago and getting to drive my buddy's E46 on a few occasions (cracking car!).
Every forum generally has its collective experiences and conventional wisdom with regard to modifying. What are common modificaitons for the Z4 3.0 Si?
As far as I can tell there is a mod to remove some of the sound deadening from the engine bay which seems like a no brainer.
A set of 19" staggered CSL style wheels will be ordered as soon as I get the car. An old and often repeated theme, but for good reason.
Looks like a set of 20mm/ 25mm spacers will set this off nicely.
What do people generally do with suspension? Eibach 30mm with Koni adjustable dampers is a well regarded mod on Alfaowner. What do people generally do to their Zeds?
Also are strut braces known to make much improvement to the handling, or are they a waste of time on the coupe? I imagine it is pretty rigid already...
The stock brakes feel very meaty to me and not really fussed about upgrading those, although I may powder coat my calipers red or yellow (my car is black).
What do people generally do about induction and exhausts?
Apart from the above I cannot imagine there being many other things other than cosmetics?
Any input or guidance you crafty veterans could give to a noob like me would be very gratfully recieved.
Really looking forward to getting stuck in over the coming months.
