New Z4 owner checking in

Hi, my name is Dean and I have just put down a deposit on my next car, BMW Z4 2.0i.

As soon as I saw it with the colour and wheels I knew I had to have it.

Big thanks to the threads on this forum, the buyers guide and list of common faults were very helpful and made it look like I knew what I was talking about :)

My previous car before this was an MX5 and I have to say the refinement of the Z4 is so much better, everything about it says quality.

Anyway heres a pic that will have to tide me over until I can pick it up.

I look forward to having a browse through the threads on here to give me ideas on what, if any to do to my car.

Hi Minefields - lovely looking Zed - great colour combination - interior looks great with the blue.

I bought a 2.0i Sport 18 months ago and we're having a great time in it. We also came from an MX5 (terrific fun car which we loved).

You are right - the Zed is in another league when it comes to quality and handling. It has a prestige above it's value and terrific looks - it's initially the looks which made me change from the MX then the performance and handling. No regrets.

This is a great Forum and you'll find it a great help and will add to your enjoyment of your Zed - try to get to some of the meets.

You'll love it - if you want performance stay in second and third using all the revs and take it to the redline - the engine can take it as it is not highly stressed and is incredibly smooth. I find it enough to have lots of fun and we manage on the 'hoons' with the other Forumites. With the price of petrol only going up as are all costs, the 2.0i can make sense and still offers lots of performance and enjoyment - you still have the looks and handling and by thrashing the engine can have adequate performance. (My wife and I come from a background of litre plus motorbikes so performance comes no where near a fast bike in a car - not even our TVR Chimeara - now there's a car to be worried about - fabulous noise and performance but I couldn't live with the cost and maintenance). You've made a good choice.

Enjoy! :driving:

Thanks for the welcomes, hopefully will be picking the car up sometime next weekend.

I went for the 2.0 as I tend to do around 9000 miles a year in my car and so it was a balance between performance and cost. Still better than some of the alternatives I was thinking about (kicking myself for even considering a fiesta or a vw polo  )

The interior is Oregon pearl grey which I get the feeling is gonna be a bugger to keep clean.

Only problem is after reading alot of threads my shopping list already is starting to grow. It already had a fair amount of detailing products on, now it has a stubby aerial and potentially a hardtop if one comes available. Plus no doubt much more.

Picked it up on Sunday. Bought from a VW dealer funnily enough and everything went smooth.

Driving it is so comfortable and such a nice ride, getting around 40 mpg from the engine even with a bit of a heavy foot.

Noticed on Monday 2 of the tyres were under 3mm and on their paperowrk they replcae them if under that. Off back to the dealers, no argument from them and on Thursday they are putting 2 new runflats on :). Tbh if had to pay the runflats would be going but cannot complain.

Trip to autobrite to stock up a few things I needed as I was running out. Hopefully will give it a good clean sometime over the weekend

Modding already started, the Citroen stubby aerial bought. Although I didn't realise it was that small :)

Interior needs a good clean too so will be top of the list to sort first.

Looks great - lovely colour.

"Nice ride" is not often something you hear with the Sport suspension, runflats and UK roads. You mind is going to be blown if you switch to non-RFTs!

Don't worry, the hole in your pocket will appear, regardless. :D
