New Z4 owner - 1 question ! *pics now included*

Hi there!

I have just bought an 04 plate 3.0i Z4, it appears to have a BMW sports bodywork pack because it has a different front bumper & side skirts and a spoiler on the bottom of the rear bumper.

Since buying it i have discovered there are two different engine specs of the 3.0i, if on the registration document it states "3.0i se" does this mean I have the more powerfull "S" spec ?

I am really enjoying the drive of the car, reminds me of some older sports cars with the refinement of a BMW (traction control tames things a bit also :D )

Cheers for any input.

*now with added photo goodness!"

Gave it a quick wash but not obsessive about cleaning !

Welcome - just the one engine for your year - don't worry it's a peach! The car was X.Xi and then X.X SE but as far as I can tell there was no difference - just BMW messing with the names. Maybe mild spec changes?

I like the Z as it's very much a classic "British" sports car!

Now... off to the Newbie forum for an introduction and some pics! Enjoy :driving:

As said above the more powerfull engine came in with the facelift cars the 3.0si you will have same as me M54 engine 3.0se.

steellam, welcome to the forum and grats on getting your Zed.

As others have said, there's no difference in engines for the 3.0 2004 zed, and post some pics of your bumpers/skirts and we'll let you know what they are :D

Ha ha - very funny adding ouy r pictures to the original post and thus making no sense of all the subsequent guesses and picture requests..

As noted above it's the standard aero kit which is bumper side skirts and lower rear diffuser. Plus the boot lid spoiler.

Nice Zed and welcome.

Next is to ditch the boot lid spoiler, change the aerial and swap to 18" rims and replace some of the amber like the side repeaters and it'll look real neat...

That's the aero kit mate; front bumper, skirts, boot spoiler and rear diffuser, a factory option. Looks good! I think it suits that colour too, better than some others.

You may get some criticism for only having 17" wheels, but I have those and really like them... although it is a real shame that didn't make them as 18s!

Look like a good buy

EDIT: HA - I wrote that, posted and then saw CJs comment about the wheels! Not a huge fan of the boot spoiler (Alpina did no better IMO).

Looks great

Thats the Aero bodykit you have. Its not to everyones taste but i like it :) Makes your small wheels look a little overwhelmed but the ride is probably a bit smoother.
The 30bhp difference between the more powerful engine and the 3.0se isn't noticeable on the road.

Sorry about editing the original post, diddnt mean to cause any problems :(

Cheers for the advice, would the replacment side repeaters and aerial be BMW parts ?

I quite like the boot spoiler ! Would you get rid alltogether ?

It will be either bonded on, bolted on or both, so the boot lid would need at least repainting unless it was replaced with another.

Think I might leave it for now, i will take a look at other users cas on the forum see if i change my mind :)
