New Z4 driver/questions about styling.

Hello! My dad and I have just moved forward in purchasing a 2009 35i in deep sea metallic. Right off the bat I want to make the car perfect as it can be, and one of the flaws in its beautiful design (in my opinion) is the bright silver trim pieces on the frontof the non-msport bumper. Is there a way to make it look better/remove/repaint/ order a part for it? Please let me know!

Is the goal!

I had the front silver bits and the harness (and the rear mirrors for the 35is) painted black. A rear spoiler too. And the headlamps and their eyebrows.

Is the picture attached to your reply the finished product? If not, do you have a picture of the finished product? Beautiful car by the way!

They are clipped in…you can just remove them..ideally taking the bumper off to do it..

I've just removed these grills in black from my old standard bumper.
The grill is black, same as yours,
The centre cross piece is silver, same as yours which I believe was standard. I only have one of these though as the other is missing.
The outer trims are both black black.

I've put some photos in a folder, here...

That’s how the car looks right now.

I see, I think there might be a video about it somewhere out there... thank you!
I'd say it's certain to remove the bumper to gain proper access. I'm sure some may think it's easy to get to them from the outside, but due to the amount if pressure required to put the outer trims in there is a huge chance to push the grill part back into the bumper from its mounting, then you wont be able to put it back.
The grill part clips to the inside if the bumper, the surround clips to the front side of the grill, but outside and over the front of the bumper, then the silver trim clips to the outside of that.

Those parts I've got are available if you're interested

My ‘gorilla’ Indy just pulled my version off from the outside..but I agree there’s a risk of damage so bumper off much better

So as long as i remove the bumper, nothing should be damaged? Or is there a chance regardless of what I do?

Place something on the ground to protect the lower edge of the bumper and watch out for the headlight washer pipes. You can disconnect the headlight washer pipes, BUT all of your washer fluid will just leak out and empty the tank (I know from experience :headbang: )
