New Z4 (demo or brand new)

Go for the ex-demo if it was registered in the first quarter of 2012 i would expect a saving of £8-10,000 over new price. Some "demonstrators" are never demonstrated and are driven by just one sensible and senior staff member who treats it as they would their own.Trust me,i spent 20 years in the business.

Well I paid £26,500 for my original zed in March 12, got a replacement (hill start saga) with auto and now it is an AUC at £26,750.....?!

If u don't have a trade in and are in the UK, use this reverse auction website

http://www.autoebid.com/buy-new-cars/BMW/Z4.asp

They use main / franchised dealers & have sourced 3 cars this way... saved oodles of cash & no haggling

The 35i I purchased a few weeks ago had BMW as the first owner and therfore taken to be a 'demonstrator' and sold to the previous owner at 4 months old with 1300 miles. It is now 3 years old, 16K miles and with no warranty. So I have taken a chance, it was well specd. and had all the extras I wanted.
Modern cars do not require the engine to be 'run in', whilst I don't thrash it from cold, especially as it is a turbo, I believe there are sufficient safeguards built into the ECU etc to prevent most if not all shortcomings.
Too early to judge, but so far 'touch wood' no problems
