Picked this up about a month ago to replace my mini, absolutely love it. Just need some decent weather to really enjoy it. Only thing it really needs doing is getting rid of the run flats.
I'm on an original @ 94k , starting to get white knuckles !Mr Tidy said:If the car has a good service history I don't think there is too much preventative maintenance that can be done, apart from the electric water pump that will die at some point.
Unlike a mechanical water pump that may start to leak or squeal the electric ones just stop working and the engine gets too hot in about a mile at best, so unless you are nearly home it's time for recovery - unless you fancy waiting a couple of hours for the engine to cool down then driving home in instalments!
And a new OE pump by Pierburg costs at least £250.![]()
If you don't know whether your car has had one and when, you might want to get it changed so you don't get stranded on a long trip.
My 1st Coupe needed a new one after 9 years and 60K miles, but my 2nd was still running on the original after 13 years and 90K miles - do you fell lucky?
