Not sure how it's more secure with smashy glass all over the top of the car...
I guess it's nicer in the event of a break in, as glass is easier/cheaper to replace! That said, I'd imagine a theif would just smash the glass on a ragtop anyway if they wanted access.
Cat, fair do's, but I'm not sure that BMW thought about cat owners!? Worth the extra cost/weight/boot compromise?
Creases? Look at them as a characteristic. I can't really see them on my car. Spent about 1hr when I got it, and another 1hr a few weeks ago doing the roof (clean/protect), and they are almost gone.
Visibility, kinda fair point, if you do lots of motorway work or never put the roof down anyway.
So it has a few advantages, but do they outweigh the costs?
Costs more.
Adds weight well up above the CofG.
Reduces boot space lots.
Potentially larger bills vs rag top when it goes wrong.
I honestly can't fault the rag top. I had imagined it'd be noisy, hard to clean, crease up like mad, but it's actually a total joy to have. It makes me wonder why most cars are not convertible to be honest. Feels like a Coupe up, a Roadster when down (obviously)
I'm happy that for plenty it's better though, just means I won't be buying one. I just *hope* that BMW make the Z2 a ragtop, because I would likely have one in the future as it sounds to be the 'new' Z4.
