Hi all,

So after my first sporty car - 2002 toyota celica t sport, I've decided to go for a convertible, always liked the idea of them... was looking at mx 5's for ages (months) and they just weren't doing it for me and being 22 I hadn't really considered a bmw assuming insurance ect would be too much... however several quotations later and looking into z4's I quickly fell for one and purchased it Saturday for £3000 with 83k miles on the clock 2005 2.5 model ( only £100 more than my temporary fiat punto 1.2 on insurance *what* 😂)... full mot last serviced 2000 miles ago with full service history. certainly feels more powerful than my celica despite having a very similiar amount of power... i didn't expect to buy the first one I viewed but after a long test drive and based on the general condition including perfect alloys I went for it... although since then I have noticed that it seems the drivers side wing mirror was knocked off at some point and has been replaced not to a perfect standard and the electronic controls for it don't work, and there's a couple of small pin dents that take quite a while to notice, but I feel I got a very fair deal at £3000! will be doing alot of miles on it and looking forward to some fun in the summer !

Welcome to the forum.

There is something special about a red interior - enjoy. :driving:

Welcome along- lovely z you have. When you get a chance you need to replace the rear hatch on your headlights to prevent condensation as the seals have perished- only £20 ish from bmw

Wecome to the forum. :) Affordable motoring in a Zed. :D Don't tell my wife. She'll want money back

Hi and welcome. I’m sure a pdr msn could sort those little dents out, and the mirror should be easy to fix. So if they are the only issues you should have fun this summer :driving:

Just thought I'd post a little update,

Already done 500 miles (yes in 5 days) just averaged 37 mpg according to the computer going to London and back, engine has been fantastic although I haven't pushed atall yet :)

Managed to find hopefully the last small issue, I noticed the srs light was on but very very dimly lit (thought was just how it looks off) then after some very close inspection (I do have ocd 😂) found a 1cm squared piece of black tape covering a bright red srs light! The person I bought it off seemed as surprised as me when I got in contact with him as it was his wife's car and he said she'd never said anything in the 2 years she's owned it, I'd like to believe him and he's been helpful even after parting with my cash so let's give benefit of the doubt, but he couldn't offer guidance with it due to apparently not ever knowing about the light or the tape...
Could anyone give me an idea if there is some simple things it could be? I read about something to do with the seats potentially being the problem? Otherwise I'll have it adressed when I service it in the summer at my very friendly and cheap local garage... thought I'd post here rather than a new forum as it's all part of the new ownership experiance I guess!
