Apologies if these have been posted before but I've just been going back over old threads (bored in a hotel room)and didn't notice any, could this be the way forward rather the new boulevard cruiser, big problem though they are claiming only 4 pot engines.

What do you think?

i have a hard time believing that there is enough demand to justify 2 roadsters. unless they will be discontinuing the Z4 by then?

The new Z4 is 300 kgs heavier than the 'old' one. It seems to be a cruiser as is the SLK so there could be room for a smaller, lighter roadster in their line up. Sort of X3 to the X5.- but hopefully better looking.

If it's based on 1 series chassis then it would take both 4 pots and maybe a top of the range 6.

There will always be good condition E85's around for years to come, so I'd not worry how naff either of the new ones are really :) (which they appear to be from a design pov for me at least, before the dynamics even come into it)

A small, light roadster would do well with a 4 banger--something like in the 318ti. Just because it only has 4 doesn't mean it won't scoot well.

It looks like a squashed up version of the Z4

I can imagine it could appeal to a younger market that can't get insured on the Z4 and will want to keep other costs down.

it actually looks like the kids car you can get
