New Z, New Member, New headaches

Thanks for all the replies guys. I had reached the point where my partner dreaded me opening my mouth at home as she was sick of hearing about the dealer and car troubles lol. The forum provided me with an outlet.

Taking the good advice from here I called repeatedly yesterday afternoon and I got fobbed off until closing time. Went to bed exhausted from it. Low and behold I received a call back first thing this morning with apologies for the previous week and an offer of £350 or the car returned for a full refund. Obviously I snapped up the offer of a full refund and will be returning it Monday. I had all but given up until the replies here gave me a second wind and it appears to have paid off (well hopefully by Monday anyway) so a big thank you.

Once the money is returned to my account I will start the hunt for another. I think maybe the 35i this time round though as although the 23i is fantastic, at moments it felt a little timid.

Will update once fully resolved.

That's good news, make sure they give a full refund and don't try to knock you.

Now start asking questions on your new purchase, get as much info as possible, then go viewing cars as an expert. Good luck

Absolute madness on the dealers part.
For the sake of a new wheel and a dent repair they are losing a sale and instead offer £350 :o
They could probably have sourced a second hand wheel and had it refurbished and the dent repair done for less than the £350.

Once you get the refund report the dealership to BMW UK. They don't like their dealerships behaving that way

And 1x extra owner on the log book I guess.

Well done on sticking at it, second tier dealerships are notorious and you've done well to get a full refund. Re: model choice, I went from a 23i to a 35i and you will not be disappointed... although you'll find the effortless speed a genuine risk to your licence :poke:

Hope this all works out today.

They've probably got the car sold on already - if not then they're approaching it in a strange fashion.

Shame really as the wheels are a known weak point - it's a shame you had to back the car. I'd have bought new wheels, taken the £350 and put the rest on ebay. I know it's a hassle, but you'll probably go through all the same problems with any Z you buy. I had the same problems on my E92 and everyone from 2006 until 2016 has had problems with cracked BMW 19" wheels in all models (I think 17" wheels are OK?)

Once again, thanks for all the input guys. Was a great help.

So got the full refund yesterday afternoon. Was a bit of a faff, and a big shame as the car was very good apart from the wheel.

Reg is YA10 USC for anyone that may end up looking at it. Car is faultless from what I can tell but make sure the rear drivers wheel has been done if buying.

I suggested £500 towards a new wheel but no bites. I think they had so much on they just weren't paying attention to what I was asking. Wasn't going to mess around so handed back. On the plus side I now know I want a bigger engine plus the auto which this didn't have. I'm going to up my budget and and start looking next week.

Definately have the bug again. Had a 2.8 z3 for 5 years a while ago and absolutely loved it. Missed the z experience ever since parting with it
