New X-Box Tomorrow!!

I recently built a colleague a new gaming PC, he's blown away by the difference between it and his X-Box in terms of performance and graphics, however the biggest improvement he's noticed is using the keyboard and mouse over the pad.

There are many things I don't like about consoles, the biggest is that they are technological dinosaurs after a few years, how old is the X-Box 360, well its 8 years since launch and my PC has had at least 3 upgrades since then and due another soon

and if you need any convincing just play FarCry 3 on a top end machine and revel in its cinematic beauty
But isn't that also part of the appeal of a console?

You know that the game you buy will play well on the hardware, whereas you might buy a new PC game and realise your machine is not up to it and then spend another £100-£500 (a year) upgrading it to get the best out of your new game.

I'd love a Titan card (or 2 of something with 4gb per card in SLI mode) to enable me to play the latest games at 2560x1600 - but then I'd need a new power supply, possibly another/bigger/faster SSD (maybe a PCIe SSD). So I'm looking at £2k to play a game!!! Next year there'll probably be another game that 'only' runs at 30fps on this rig, and I'd be in the same position.

I'm not saying one is better than the other, but that they've both got their place.

BTW, I've had a 360 since they were launched, and only paid for 1 upgrade of it in that time (2 others were replaced under warranty). I've also got a PSP (which I haven't touched for years).

couldnt agree more! ive done the whole gaming rig set up, speding £££ on new graphics cards and RAM to take a new game! console and top end gaming rigs are completly diffrent and are used diffrently.

My point is when you all got your PS3 and X-Box you were amazed at the level of detail games had, 8 years later you haven't moved on but developers and gaming has....

"You and your TV are going to have a relationship."
"Can we take what you love and make it better?"

Name confirmed: Xbox ONE

The voice activated software also allows a user to scroll across applications, including games, television and music.

Switching from TV to gaming to music is just like changing a channel on your television.

The Kinect camera, once it recognises you, logs you in. Live TV can be called up by saying "XBox, Live TV". Voice-activated software.

Looked OK, no in game demo's till E3 though - At least we saw the physical hardware

Also, did it mention what RAM was installed?

Rumoured to be DDR3 where as the PS4 has DDR5.

8GB RAM!

The PS4 has 8GB too...

The only interesting thing I've seen from watching some of the videos is Forza at release. Thats a pretty good coup from Microsoft.
Very interested to see what it's graphics are like, the video didn't convince me that they've improved their lighting or shaders.

The console looks inoffensive... :tumbleweed:

Still lacking any juicy info really.

Next gen consoles need to do something to stem haemorrhaging user-base and this feels to me like the beginning of a tech-capable, multi media consolidation war. Expect more companies to diversify and ultimately become one with your TV - which btw has a limited lifespan as we migrate to more on-demand content wherever and whenever we want it in portable format.

One day soon, switching on a box and using a remote will all feel very twee.

Gotta love the future!

Agree with this... Except I think scheduled programming will be with us for some time to come yet. Too many people still don't like having to make up their own minds

I am going to need a new TV to go with the Xbox One I shall be getting for Christmas :P

What better excuse! Was looking at massive LED sets in John Lewis last weekend. The picture quality was phenomenal!

I love looking at the Samsung ultra slim ones from the side, weirdly - still trying to work out where the pretty picture comes from. They are unnaturally beautiful side-on

Some kind ok Japanese/Korean witchcraft I reckon. Maybe if my current 42" Sony LCD has an 'accident' I can replace too ;)

I'm a playstation user... Not that i have any loyalty to either! Just love call or duty and gran turismo.

This just seems the same old to me... Doesnt really appeal to me... Neither does the PS4... I must be getting old

I did the whole build my super pc in my uni days... And i enjoyed tinkering with it... But i prefer the convenience of my console.. Got 30 mins while my food is in the oven... i can just turn it on.. Play some COD and before i know it my food is done, cold and being eaten by maggots
