New "winter" Car...

I've got a friend who does a lot of his own work but when it gets too difficult he uses them and thinking about it I know someone who gets his 987 Boxter serviced there as well.

Thank you! Its good to know that they would know what they are doing. Made a post on the Porsche forums and hopefully someone will confirm that its just the hose. If so, it looks easily enough accessible however what is unclear is the connection points...

Lets start the comparison with reliability...after owning the z4 since march, I have never had to call the RAC...Two weeks into owning the boxter, this happened...

How do I recover a saved "draft" message ? I have to exit the forum in order to prepare a photo into Photobucket, so I saved the text in order to recover it when I was ready with the photo. Now I cannot find it ??

Perhaps it wasn't cold enough for a winter car!

Hope it was inexpensive to fix and is back on the road soon.

The car previous to the BMW Z4 was a 2003 Porsche Boxster S, which I drove for five months without any problems of any kind. When the odometer passed 171,000 KMs, I began to worry about potential costs of upkeep and looked for a car dealership who would accept the Porsche as a partial trade. I found this 2007 Z4 3.0i roadster with only 18,153 KM and in almost as new condition and fell in love.
My wife did not like the Boxster - thought it too loud and too fast. I have not yet demonstrated to her that the Z is pretty close to it, performance-wise, and it is indeed much quieter. I will reserve spirited driving for when she is not present. Prior to the Porsche, I had a 1998 Jaguar XK8 for two summers, and that was a delightful experience. I will post this, and then recover a photo of the Porsche.

Thank you RickRob! Got a couple of friends who work at a local scrap yard and they have informed me that there is currently 3 boxters there! Sent them a photo of what I think is wrong to compare to see if any of the three have a hose piece which will attach to the location I have shown them. Fingers crossed tomorrow will be successful. If not, its off to the garage. Think the issue was that it was too cold! Bought the car from Bournemouth where it is a hell of a lot warmer! Don't think the car has experienced many cold winters up in sunny Scotland! 8)

Stunning Porsche! I guess I am an unlucky one when it comes to cars! The speedo on mine is currently reading 162k miles (260km approx) however it is on its second engine which was fitted by porsche at 82k miles. So current engine has only done 130km! Jag XK8 is also another great car! Personally love the 370z for a future winter but will see how things go. Running them both together, although they seem to match very similar digits on paper, the porsche feels a lot faster! However comfort, reliability, enjoyment & putting the biggest smile on my face, I would have to give it to the zed.

Thank you. I have been informed it may be the water pump. But will have to somehow get it to a garage. Fingers crossed its a simple fix! Weekend job...

Water pump replacement parts and labour circa £800 at a good Indy. But it's not beyond DIY if you are good with the spanners

Found out the cause. Ran the engine and noticed it wasnt leaking. Had topped up the fluid and saw that it was circulating. Turns out it's a simple fix....a faulty cap! New one ordered and waiting. If I never spent so long with my head in my hands and popped the boot, I would have noticed this on the day. But who would have known!

Unlucky, maybe the previous owner suspected issues were looming? Hopefully nothing too expensive!
