New "winter" Car...

I must say, I do love my soft tops. Bought myself a BMW 323i 6 months ago with the intention of getting it working and past its MOT to use as a "winter car". I successfully did that one month ago. I quickly got bored with it. There was nothing exciting about it. However the practicality aspect was there. So decided to buy a new "winter car" with the intention of selling the 323i for someone to enjoy. So I went for this!







Practicality is not there but who needs practicality anyway?!? :thumbsup:

Car is not perfect. A few things I need to sort out before I truly am happy with it. So I better get signed up to the boxter forums also.... :tumbleweed:

Only thing missing now is an S2000 to complete the fleet...
 
I can appreciate your logic opting for a soft top as a winter car.

It is indeed! Had a 610 mile drive yesterday to bring it home up in Scotland so majority of the driving was done on a motorway. Will do a review in the near future however once I get to test it properly on the great country roads. :thumbsup: One major thing I did notice however was the fuel efficiency compared to the zed...37mpg average on the drive home! :thumbsup: :driving:
 
I fully understand your logic - I bought an S2000 late last October to replace my aging E46. It made for a perfect winter car and has been my daily driver all of this year. I've yet to put the hardtop back on as I'm still enjoying the odd sunny day with the roof down.

Yep! :rofl: picked up some Michelin Alpine N rated winter shoes tonight. Need to fit them tomorrow as its currently snowing up in Sunny Scotland... :o Just got to hope these cheap budget tires currently on the car cause me no grief tomorrow morning. :|
 
Wait.. you have a z4 roady and bought a boxster as a 'winter' car?

Is this some epic man maths explanation for two cars that fulfil the same role ? If so.. i like it.
 
Loving your winter thrasher. :lol: Make sure you get the top down. Oh and do't forget, put a big wooly hat on. Not to keep warm, but so no one recognised you in it :oops: :P .

Exactly! Perfect man logic! :wink: Needed a convertible of some sort as a winter car. It just doesn't make sense to get a hard top of any kind! Nothing beats sleet falling on the head! :thumbsup:

Love the zed! Still cleaning it every week although it hasn't moved and keeping the engine running at least once a week so that when summer comes round, it can come back on the roads! :thumbsup:
 
Lets start the comparison with reliability...after owning the z4 since march, I have never had to call the RAC...Two weeks into owning the boxter, this happened... :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:

thank you. Had a look underneath today. Looks like one of the coolant hoses has disconnected. I really hope this is the issue as it should be a cheap enough fix. If its not, I'm gonna be broke for Christmas... :thumbsdown:
 
Have you tried Station a garage Kintore they can be pretty good - just done the brake lines on a friends 997.

Unfortunately never been to them. Was thinking possibly taking it to west high street garage in Inverurie but there is the issue that there is a lot of teen apprentices working there who will take a lot longer to fix it. More time = more money. Plus I would prefer to pay for fully qualified mechanics. Will give Station Garage a call tomorrow though and see what they say. Hopefully I can get a quote easy enough! :thumbsup:
 
I've got a friend who does a lot of his own work but when it gets too difficult he uses them and thinking about it I know someone who gets his 987 Boxter serviced there as well.
