New wheels

Wheels arrived yesterday. Look brill. Really pleased with them. Won't have them on till next Wednesday though due to work. Will post some pics once they're on

I've decided to fit Avon ZZ5's for a few reasons. I've got a holiday to pay in full in the next couple of weeks and spending a lot of money on the house so I had a budget of £1000 in total. The tyres are coming in at £435, fitted from National Tyres by their mobile unit so don't need to fanny about taking wheels up and down to them. I had the same tyres on my 350Z and didn't have any problems with them and they seem to get reasonable reviews. So in total £550 for wheels, £435 tyres and about another £12 for centre caps and m badges from Ebay means £997 total so worked out ok. I've went for 235 35 19 and 255 35 19 as mr Wilks suggested. It'll be interesting to see the difference going from 17" runflats to standard 19s.

That's them on and to say I'm delighted is an understatement :yeah: The car has been transformed. It looks amazing. I was worried how the ride height would look as I really don't want to lower it and IMO is looks fine. The colour is very close to the paintwork and the small M badges are a nice touch. As for the comfort side of things I can't believe it. I was hoping it wouldn't be too hard and would compare to the 17" run flats for harshness. There is actually very little difference and if I may use this word it actually feels just as comfortable, if not more comfortable as they seem to have a little more compliance and the steering is very smooth. n the short run out in them today I think they are a lot quitter too. :trampoline: Here's a couple of before and after shots. Let me know your thoughts even if you don't like it

Amazing the difference a set of wheels can do.
In my opinion the original wheels have no place anywhere near a Z.

I had those 17 inchers, they look like wagon wheels.
Those new one's look great, looks like the dealers in these wheels are going to run out of them!
And a lot easier to clean.

Next get some drilled discs and paint calipers.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys :D Yeah I might do the discs and callipers but that'll probably be next year. Need to get some caps for those unsightly wheel bolt heads first.

These look amazing Del! Seriously tempting me towards them for some winter wheels to protect my 313s. Are the faces of the wheel machined or painted? I want to stop de-icing salt damage.

They look superb OP! Transformed the car. Don't forget you can flog your old wheels and tyres.... You'll get £2/300 for them, maybe more.
Can we see a face on pic of one of the wheels please? Want to see if they are silver or silver/gun metal, can't quite tell....

What are you doing about a spare wheel in case of puncture?

I'll post one up later. They are gunmetal. Quite a dark grey. Similar to the cars paintwork but possibly a bit darker.

I've just got a can of the squirty stuff for now and a compressor. I was thinking about selling the wheels but might keep them and put winter tyres on. Not sure yet.

These are good wheels but seemingly out of stock! I am tempted to exchange my similarly styled 19 inchers (326?) mainly because of the crack risk with those (even though they are fine). So, are these any better at avoiding cracks? and where are they made - the make of the wheels is not clear? Lastly, what's the view of the gunmetal/machined look with Alpine White. Too much?

I tried taking a couple of pics of the wheels straight on but they haven't come out too well but I've posted a photo I found online of them which shows the colour pretty well. As for the make of them I don't know. Time will tell for cracks :idunno: I think the gunmetal would look good but the wheels also come in black with machined faces. This might be a good choice for your alpine white car.
