New wheels on my E89

Just wanted to share a pic of my new rims after my 296's had small cracks in 3 of THEM. I went with Good year Egale A1's in the end, so I will let you know my thoughts after I have put some miles on them.

Iam going to get them repaired and then sell them if anyone is interested please PM me.

Your new ones look nice, but IMHO I'd be surprised if anyone will be buying ones that have been repaired. Check what others think before spending money!

Thanks, I will post pictures of the cracks and after repair. They are very minor, so it would be a real shame to scrap them, but thanks for your advice.

Nice wheels, midlife
Think they really suit the e89s those wheels, and not too many have them theses days, as more opt for the original style you had, which are excellent looking wheels, but the well known cracking issues is a constant pain for owners.
Were your alloys on Runflats or not?
Curious to hear if that has an effect, or not, as can be the case.

Cars looking great

They were on run flats, the cracks are only about 10mm and don't even go into the internal part of the rim, so not too bad. But I always wanted to change the wheels and tyres when I brought the car, so all in all, it is what it is.

Yeah, it does appear from posts on here etc since the e89s came out/or since owners started noticing cracking issues, that it's more common with Runflats on these wheels, to have cracked alloys, although not exclusively, it does seem to be a lot less of an issue if using non rfts with the softer sidewalls they have, compared to Runflats.
That's the only reason I asked.
Carooks good on both, tbh.
As said, your new ones suit it every bit as well.
John's got these on his too (sammyz).

Enjoy

I love the look of the 296’s but from my previous experience they are more trouble than they're worth.

I do like the new ones you've put on but I seem to be going for cars that are still on the original style alloys - think I'm slowly turning in to one of those stock set-up geeks.

If I ever have the 325's refurbished back to the original colour I know I will have made the full transition

Dont pay more than £60 a wheel for repairs, find a local engineering shop....
I paid £55 a wheel, welded, resprayed!!!! Bargain of the century and they have lasted well....

And as a point of note, the weld is stronger than the original wheel when done properly apparently!!

Hi Hakan,

I can post them to Sweden, but not sure how things work with Brexit. I would want £450 for the wheels. If would like to look in to the post and costs, then we can discuss further.

Hi, have you repaired the rims or are there still cracks left. Do you know what it will costs to weld them in Great Britain? Can you find out the transportation cost, I think it's easier to do it on the spot . (please)
It has become a little harder now with Brexit, now it must be customs cleared and VAT paid as well.

I will get the cracks repaired. I will post the pics of before and after on here. I will let you know about the cost and posting as this is something I have never done.

Hi again, I do not know how it works with contact on this forum, maybe we should change email address?
Håkan
