Nice car Paza  Got me thinking now - although I'm hankering for a convertible and the boxster is a little bit.....how do I put it......... :hairdryer:

:P

I am not a Porker fan.

But that is a lovely motor Paza

Now I know why you were calling me a chicken - but you have reached your limit with Mrs P's patience now. I am not so sure I have that much 'patience' stored up yet... Possibly after the 'essential non mid-life crisis' spend

Well done, enjoy !

 I know what you mean, there was a brief moment.... then it passed. I would say the porsche boxster spyder breaks the model quite a car in the flesh

The Cayman S is an exceptional car and in every review I have found a superior car over the M Coupe (sorry guys  I will be able to judge in the coming weeks, do not think it maybe, has so much soul).

The fact they only released 75 of these babies to the UK was the selling point for me. Also the sport comes with so many extras, the equivalent 911 would 70-80k which is just a mad amount of cash. This will be the most I have ever spent on car by quite a margin but the numbers stacked up and am thinking it will lose around £3000 pa which I can live with, that’s on standard Cayman deprecation curves it flatterns out around then form my research, being a limited run am hoping she will hold a little better.

I certainly have I think she maybe putting parental controls on - Pistonheads-Autotrader-Ebay , she has also said if I mention changing other than an emergency situation (lotto win) about changing cars I will have a shorten life, for a minimum 18 month period. I have agreed terms and exchanged contracts....

Come oooooooooooonnnnnnnnnn Friday :headbang: :headbang:

Ooh that looks like a winner to me - can I have first dibs when you move on to something else in 6 months time :poke:

Very interested in what you think of it (and any Porker forums) 'cos I'm leaning towards Stuttgart once I get bored of the Zed(s).

Maybe you and Lucy should do a side-by-side comparison comparing the 'standard' and S sport to the 3.0si and M - would like to read about that :)

Excellent choice. Regarding Sport Chrono do you think you'll ever use it? To me it seems like it's just like the Z4M's sport button (I.e. throttle map change of dubious value) only with a clock on the dash. I know it makes the PASM stiffen up but there's a button for that already.

Well interesting for me it was a must as it links into the PSE , and that make quite a differences in the sound of course you can have a standalone PSE button. When the PASM on you really can feel the difference I was quite surprised. Interestingly I was reading that the sports chrono knock off 3 secs around the ring , as the throttle response is more sensitive so therefore I guess it does make a difference , not to physical speed of course but in response time

This was at the dealers in Reading along the relief road? If so they've had this one on display for a while and have it elevated where you literally cannot miss it as you drive past :)

Nice motor

Nice car OP, Sports Chrono is a must have

Why do you say this? It's a clock on the dash and the ability to set some settings slightly faster than using the regular buttons. I just don't get it.

Sports Chrono alters engine mapping, clock is for lap times, also if by "buttons" you're referring to changing gear, paddles are the only way to go :)

I don't think we should confuse issues by discussing Sport Chrono on a 991 with PDK, since that's a whole new ball game.

The OP has a manual Cayman so Sport Chrono can have no affect on the gearbox. Yes it adjusts the throttle mapping (not the engine mapping - that's very different) and yes it gives you hard stop at the rev limit (which is why it helps with acceleration times), but as I said, that's of dubious value. It adjust the PSE and it sets the PASM to maximum, but as I said, there are buttons to do that anyway.

So the difference is that you get in the car and you press Sport Chrono and your exhaust goes furity and your suspension goes into maximum attack mode. Or you get into a non Sport Chrono car and you press a button for the exhaust and then you press a button for the PASM. So Sport Chrono saves you one button press - big deal.

I think the OP has a beautiful car and I would love it but in my opinion it's a real stretch to say that Sport Chrono is a "must have". No doubt there are Caymans up and down the UK that aren't finding buyers because "it doesn't have Sport Chrono" like it's some kind of magic bullet that liberates an extra 40 BHP, which clearly it isn't.

Mate would not worry to much about it , for me I love all the toys and would not even consider a CS unless it had the Nav system. So I suppose some want all the extras ,for me personally "its a must" but many people its not "so its horses for courses" as they say , same reason I paid 5k more for a CS thats "limited edition" many people would not bother, but thats part of the attraction I like the fact only 75 came to the UK are they are about 10 GT Orange ones left in the UK.

James_G --Ah, you mean "buttons" what I call switches, I'm sure by what I've read in the past many prior-purchasers look for SC among other performance options.

I wasn't referring to a 991S which has Dynamic Engine mounts etc with SC and nothing like the OP's car

With respect you do seem a tad touchy and aggressive on the subject? :)

That's not what I intended but reading it back I can see what you mean.

Perhaps if I may clarify - I don't like this habit we've all got in to where perfectly good cars are discounted by purchasers because it's missing a particular option. This is exacerbated by people highlighting that certain options are a "must have". This particularly grates when the option is of dubious value, as I believe Sport Chrono is.

Imagine if BMW had made the sport button on Z4 Ms optional. We'd now have people on saying that "it's a lovely car but it doesn't have the Sport Button", so I'm not going to buy it. In the near 3 years I had my car I used it three times, each time to remind me how undriveable it made the car and thus how pointless it was. That's just my opinion of course and I can't vouch for what effect it has on non Ms.

What this thread has highlighted is that there are buyers out there who want all the options, irrespective of what they actually do, so I'll just accept that.

very very nice , love the shape and the in ya face colour, never driven one tho a lot say its a sanitized mc. dont get the way some are knocking the sports chrono, it would be sad if every maker put the same gadgets in every model, seems its a fun gadget to have , enjoy yr new fun machine .
