New Wheels for my 2011 Z4/E89

Im thinking about getting some new wheels for my car. I found some in the link below and they say "Z4" in the listing of vehicles they fit but I seem to remember the front tires being a different size than the rear tires. Would this mean two different wheel sizes? I know little about mechanics of my car but I love it. Can someone tell me if this would work?

Also, since i have stock run-flats on the car could i take them off my current wheels and use them on the new wheels? I hear all these horror stories about run flats and trying to remove them and put them back on, how that is a big messy task etc..

Thanks for any info in advance,

Tommy

Hi Tommy,

The alloys shown in the link you provided won't fit the E89 Z4, look to be fitment for the old model.

The E89 fitment is offset ET29 for the fronts and ET40 for the rears, tyre sizes are 225/40 front and 255/35 rear for 18" wheels.

You won't be able to swap the standard BMW runflats onto aftermarket non BMW rims as they will lack the rim bead to ensure the tyre stays on the rim in the event of a puncture. You can fit non runflat tyres however to the BMW rims.

This is a useful link below for the current range of BMW alloys for the E89 to compare against aftermarket alloys. The importance is the offset or ET range to ensure you keep roughly to the BMW offset range otherwise the new wheels might go too far into the arch and fowl the suspension or come too far out of the wheel arch.

Titan, not sure I agree with you there, the rims are 7.5 so not ideal given the width but fitting a 10 mm spacer will solve the offset and you might just squeeze 225's onto then.

However, if you are going to invest in new wheels then get a set of 18"

Great info guys! Thanks so much!!! Is there a company you would recommend to buy the wheels from? I found this: http://germantunerwarehouse.com but not sure since im sure there are thousands of sites that sell wheels...

I'm guessing the original poster currently has BMW 17" alloys if hes wanting to swap the tyres over which I think are 8x17 ET29 front and rear so yepp I'm guessing like you say you could fit 10mm spacers front and rear to bring the alloys hes looking to get which has a ET35 offset down to ET25.

If it were me I would save like mad and opt for the BMW 19" :D
