love them..
my unique, significant though, problem is that 18'' wheels are already too much for the streets where I live.
pity there aren't any 18", or are they?? Any hints?? :D

Style 295s are look very similar, but are an 18" E89 wheel. But you'll need to find used ones as I believe they're no longer available. :(

I've got them on my Coupe.
I have been looking forward to seeing these on your car Iain. They do look good.

Ohhh, thank you @Mr Tidy!!! Look really nice!
Spacers needed?
Any chance of someone posting pics of a grey Coupe with those beauties for additional help?? Otherwise I'll photoshop, for a start

You definitely won't need spacers on the front, and don't really need any on the rear.

They're the same 8J front & 8.5J rear as the 108s/MV2s, but front ET is 29 instead of 47 so they sit 18mm further out! Rears are ET40 instead of 50, so they sit 10mm further out.

That and the lack of 108 bolt-head corrosion issues is what I liked best about them.

thx again for the immediate response!
same width front and rear, in my case.
luckily, due to being garaged and driven rarely -which is about to change..now that I'm in love again after retrofitting lotus seats- I have little to none bolt-head corrosion issues. yet.. :D

Thanks, Ian - I'm really pleased with them.

Even if your 230s do look even better!

The 295’s look very nice too! Never knew about these wheels... fittment looks spot on also.

I thoroughly cleaned and waxed the 230s today - didn’t take too long but they shine very nicely now :D I would never have bothered with csl reps (or did on my previous style 220 reps) as the many spokes just makes it too hard to do properly. The 230’s are subtle, fit really well and complement the coupe lines very well - my wife and few friends said they car looks like it was released from factory with these wheels (they all hated the style 220’s lol).

The 230s do look good, I could be tempted by a set of them on my E85 roadster (was planning on changing wheels next summer). Are people running stock tyre sizes (225/35/19 front and 255/30/19 rear) and do they rub at all?

hey mate I was running 235/35/19 up front and it was rubbing a bit when going over dips in the road... Changed over to 225/35/19's today and it seems to have eliminated the rubbing (and also looks better proportioned with the 255/30/19 rears I have).

Yes, they look great.

The upside of running E89 wheels on an E85/86 is they sit further out so you don't need spacers!

Exactly! The +37, +39 front and rear offsets are bang on in my opinion

That’s given me food for thought, was set on csls or tiger claws but that’s thrown a curve ball in there ... so clean and simple

To anyone still on the fence over these wheels, 3 months in and I'm still loving them!

Old post I know! I nearly bought the above E86 riding on 230’s a couple of weeks ago. I (or was it my passenger) decided on a convertible instead. Picked up an 03 3.0l in silver. Have found a set of 230’s to replace the 17’s. I think they suit the E85/86 perfectly.

Cheers,
Pete

the Zed is so beautiful that frankly, you could put bin lids on and it would still look great.

I think these are one my favourite E86 wheels... I just need to stick my Veeman 19s back on for a few weeks and make a final decision as to whether to prioritize looks or comfort for my E86 summer wheels... if I go looks / 19s then these are current favourites unless I go for something custom (Japan Racing JR11s appeal).

I'm one of the few that dislikes the 230 style wheels.

My Coupe had them when I bought it, I tried to like them but they just looked too big to my eyes.
Then someone called my car a 'Hot Wheels' toy car, as the wheels looked huge.
That was it, i couldn't get that image out my head, they had to go.
I changed them for a set of 18" 261 style, then moved to a set of forged 18" 405 style.
