New wheels, again

Well this was an unexpected expense.
Car went in last week for inspection 2 service with my bmw indy garage and came away with a few more jobs to do.
I knew my gearbox mechatronic cover gasket has been leaking slightly and needing doing which is a gearbox out job but didn't know about the two front lower control arm bushes needed doing, apparently they are called hydro bushes and have a liquid in them which over time can leak out and then dry up, you can replace the complete arms but I'm going for swapping the bushes to powerflex poly bushes. These two jobs will be booked in once they have the bushes in stock.

The other unexpected one was my 359 rep rear wheels having a few cracks on the inner rim, two on the offside and 7 on the nearside 😲. What with needing two new front tyres as scrubbed edges (been on 5 years) and the 2 year old rears having slits on the inner edges I had to bite the bullet and get new wheels and tyres which was a painful kick in the plumbs 🤪. Front wheels as ok so will probably try and sell on but rears are scrap.
I couldn't find the same wheels with the same et and widths so went for some Veemann v fs34, 8.5 et35 front and 9.5 et43 rears on 10mm spacers. Tyres are 265/30/19 rear and 235/35/19 fronts.

Before and after pics (please be kind) 🤣

Nice, and I do like the contrast black roof on the E89.👍🏻

New wheels look good Nigel. Not the easiest to clean.👍

I prefer the look of the Chinese CSLs, but think the Veemans will be much better made TBH.

I was talking to a tyre fitter a few years ago when he was putting tyres on some cheap Chinese rip-offs of BMW wheels I bought. He said they were generally made OK, but because the Chinese don't really take much notice of 'quality control' (ie they don't have any), there can be huge pockets of nothing in the castings, which make them structurally poor. He said when fitting tyres it is easy to spot, as they are difficult to balance (because there are huge pockets of air in them in various places). Cheap Chinese wheels generally have a lot more weights than 'decent' wheels.

I can't wait to get my Chinese wire wheels' tyres fitted! :D

Yeah I preferred the 359 reps I'd got on but was finding it very difficult to get the sizing I wanted so opted for these.

Cheers Ian, this was my only concern about the cleaning of them but guess I'll just have to deal with that now

I like Veeman wheels too, even if yours do look like a PITA to clean!

I must admit I'd didn't give it much thought on the cleaning side of things when I picked them but I guess with 5 different size soft round wheel brushes of which I have a few and some product and the pressure washer then I should be able to waste 4 hours of my time

Much better with the new wheels.

I put gtechnic serum on my Z wheels and they are really easy to rinse now.

Well if you are doing that you can’t be carrying out ‘domestic chores’ :D :D :D

I used to install cheap Chinese wheels on Mercedes wheels, and the inner rim cracked and air leaked and I got a flat tire, fortunately it didn't cause an accident, but I'm careful when choosing wheels

Complicated wheels? Easy. My local Romanians clean whatever I take 'em.
Ah the old "taliban car wash".
We have had a number of 'Eastern European' car washes shut down locally, as they apparently are linked to money-laundering and slavery. :o

Then the politicians wonder why Reform UK are now in charge of our local (and County) Councils.
