So after a phone call and a small debate , jack is going to send me a new wheel next week ,and then I will send back my old wheel and the new one I'm not happy with

Result, glad its sorted

Good result but it's not something that would bother me to much, is that a "sport" wheel, would be interested to see pic's of the whole thing after the refurb!

Yes, I would have a word with them. You coughed up good money for a top quality job - that's not top quality!

Glad you are getting it sorted. I am not an OCD clean freak like most on here lol But I would have definitely not been able to live with that either.

ok yes its a multifunction sports wheel , and this is what you get for your £120 plus £10 postage. I opted for perforated sides smooth tops with M stitching, don't get me wrong the quality is superb and the smell of the leather is amazing, you might say i'm just a bit fussy anyway should get a new wheel next week.

The feel of the new wheel is lovely much nicer than the standard M sport wheel

So i just had an e-mail back from Royals and they are sending my replacement steering wheel tomorrow,( just under a month since i ordered the first one) i got the feeling they were not in any rush to replace it and took it personally that i complained about the equality, hopefully it will be all ok this time

Well you have to speak how you find.
I had mine done recently, as yours double padded perforated and smooth leather but with black stitching.
They also recovered my Zhp gear knob in perforated leather to match.
(Also bought the perforated handbrake from BMW)

I have to say mine is absolutely fantastic quality and workmanship.
It transforms the inside of the car.
I would highly reccomend this company from the job that was done for me.

I think you were unfortunate but they are putting it right.
Your slight delay will be well worth it

The guy at Royal Steering Wheels seems a decent bloke so I would contact him and I'm sure he would put it right.

+1 He'll be doing my interior very soon. I'm sure if he wants more of our business and mine he'll put this right.

Your interior? What's he doing to it? I wonder if he has ever done leather seats too......ie replacement leather...

Morning All,

Slightly off topic, but I assume those of you who have had your steering wheels refurbed have also repainted the plastic parts, how have you manged to remove the "Soft touch" coating from the spoke covers and switches before priming and painting.

Stu.

There are quite a few members who have refurbed the plastic trims, some have had better and longer lasting results than others. I decided to buy a new set from BMW last year as mine were worn and annoyed me!

Link to one refrub thread which might be of interest http://www.z4-forum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=37920&p=521991&hilit=plastidip#p521989

Thanks Swiftly - I'll go and have a look, as a matter of interest how much are a new set of plastic parts?
