We have just launched our new website this week and would appreciate your thoughts and feedback please.

Cheers

Looks good

Im in the middle of having one made for my business...trouble is you give the guy a design brief and whilst he's working on that you get some different (better ) ideas so you contact the guy then whilst he's busy altering that you see a better one .........poor web designer :headbang:

Looks good though and easy to navigate which if it isnt is a big put off on websites

I have a friend who's a professional designer. PM me if anyone needs a contact.
Thats the one thing I struggle with. I have sat with a blank piece of paper for hours doodling trying to design a nice simple way of writing the business name :headbang:

First impressions are that the website is well laid out and attractive to the eye. Focal points using 3rd party eye tracking software and various algorithms designed to find out where the most contrasting colours are on your homepage are the 'TOO HOT / TOO COLD' graphic and the 'See the results' tab... these are your HOT areas...

Judging by this I would recommend that you change the background colour of the 'SOLVE ALL YOUR CONSERVATORY PROBLEMS' to a contrasting colour other than the same green that your homepage currently is as the button isn't drawing enough attention to it. Considering it's the biggest icon on the homepage and seems to be the most important thing for your potential customers to see it definately needs to be an Orange or other contrasting colour.

Another good point is that you have two QUOTE tabs one at the top of the page and one at the bottom, both which pose good date capture opportunities.

Nothing too impressive in terms of SEO. You have almost ZERO text on the homepage which is the most important page for your keywords and general text for keywords. Most homepages have a 300-500 word body of text with H1 and H2 tags at the bottom of the homepage, which you would navigate to by scrolling down thus in effect 'hiding it' from the initial loading view so you don't loose any of your navigation design.

Top nav banner is good, though to improve I would recommend making the 'offers' top nav bar a different colour so it stands out and increases the liklihood of your customers finding the deals they are after.

Hope that helps!

Wow bradders! I darent show you mine when its done

Looks good

The only comment I would make is that I personally 'google' for local firms, by which from my city or county when looking to get work done.

But I guess it depends on how far you want to cast your net

I was going to echo bradmarsh, classic error of all the effort going in to style and appearance over content and SEO being built in from the start, in this respect it's really not going to work for you. Plus you are missing out on the golden advantage you should be capitalising on, namely location orientated SEO. I imagine your customer base is around Poole/Dorset but no mention in page titles/key words or crucially on in the page content, as it is nobody is going to find you if they search for you product geographically.

I'm no expert but have done a bit of web/SEO and produced this guide as a course project a few years ago. The site is outdated now but the content and principles is explains are still valid and worth checking out before you meet up with your designer, at the moment it's like a beautiful restaurant set up at the back of a trading estate, nobody will know it's there. The good news is it's not hard to fix.

Thanks for all the replies - much appreciated especially the Seo comments as we haven't started on that. We do have a text heavy drop down section underneath the scrolling boxes which contain key phrases.

I'm all ears for any other suggestions you may have, thanks everyone.

That was a useful read. I've found it difficult to write my home page so welcome any advice.
Sorry if this is a thread hijack...not meant to be
