Hi everyone, I have owned my Z4 now for just over a year its a black 2007 2.0 16rims 60kmiles. Heated seats r nice. I am 24 years old and I love it :) . I would love a 2.5 or a 3 but I cannot insure them on my low salary. Also I wave to other z4 drivers and feel as if im in a special club lol.

My following issues are.

Can someone explain the air con to me I dont quite understand it all and the manual does not make things clear.. I know what air con is but the thing has 2 air reciruclation type things I just dont understand.

Fog in fog lights. Are there any proven fixes??

Fuel economy I was getting 34mpg at first then about 5 months ago it dropped to 31mpg now im on 30.3 mpg . granted i have not been taking it for long drives this winter but the car is not that old it should perform better. If anyone has any ideas or suspect anything plz would help alot.

Tyres.
currently I have the 16 rims Bmw reccomend (in the uk) Bridgstone Paztona tyres But are there any other Run flats i can use ? All the big dealers seem to only offer the bridgestones.

My ashtray light has gone, I cannot find a guide fix on this and I cannot locate the LED am i being a right Tit??

My exhaust is the single wide looking tip. What if any are my choices on an exhaust to make it slightly louder can any1 reccomend an exhaust for my 2.0l that will improve how it sounds from the back. ( I know it wont improve it much)

2.0 has no sports mode I dont drive my car to race it anyway but Subaru's and celicas do challenge me at lights any tips to make me faster. Turn DTC off?? will that help ?

Thankyou for your help and advice. I would just like to point out I Do not know much about cars I am MAN But I enjoy driving cars Not getting underneath them and fixing them or learning how they work. Atleast I am not a boy racer in a corsa thinking im shi hot.

Umm.. never used the re-circ feature sorry

When I looked at the back, they didn't seem sealed, I think you may just have to live with it. The headlights can be sorted by drying them out with hot air and replacing the seals.

Have you regularly reset the computer?

The RFT Tyres are Bridgestone Potenzas, they're probably your only options for RFTs. You don't have to use RFTs. Most on here recommend using normal tyres. I haven't switched, but once my RFTs go, I'll not be using them again.

You could go for an aftermarket back box, but I gather they're not cheap. Eisenmann or such like. You may be able to install a bypass pipe.

A CDV delete will help with the clutch feel, you could slip the clutch more, but most Imprezas that are badged up as WRX or STI will have a fair bit of traction and power. A Celica is around 140 or 190bhp IIRC and weighs in 150 ish kg less. Your 2.0 is quoted at 147, so it would be close on the 140, but the 190 will have you every day.

The climate control is detailed in the manual, but the recirc had me confused until I read it again...

Recirc with an A in the middle is 'auto' - basically it allows air in from the outside unless the system detects contaminants in the air (smoke, chemicals, exhaust fumes etc.) at which point it recirculates the air in the car until the contaminants are no longer present outside.

Recirc with no letter - just recirculates the air in the car continuously. Not something you should do all the time as the air quality in the car will reduce (or something similar - in the manual)

If you have neither selected then fresh air is drawn in all the time. I keep the Auto on all the time.

An intro and pics in the newbie section would be ace when you get a moment

Posted in the wrong section so I'll ask a mod to move it to get more exposure.

(This is the e89 area for models 2009 on)

Fuel economy drops a little in cold weather (and power increases  ) due to colder, denser air. Could also be you've developed a heavy foot just because it's so much fun.

The sport button doesn't make the car faster, it changes the throttle response to be more twitchy, it's more of an illusion. It does dramatically raise the shift point in autos, but you should be using manual mode for max. performance anyway. Definitely turn the DSC (default mode) to at least DTC (one push) to allow some wheel spin. Completely off (push-hold) would work too (mandatory on the track), but DTC will help keep you from completely losing it on the street and allow enough wheel spin. If you spin more than DTC allows, you're doing it wrong. DSC on will actually apply brakes right when you need the most power!

That said, don't street race random idiots at stop lights, there's too many unknown variables to do so safely.
