Need 2 new front tyres and was wondering what people think about these??

I had them on my 3 series (I think, might have been SP 2, cant remember) - good tyre, but probably not as grippy as some performance tyres

The 2 forum fav's are Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta or Falken 452s, with the latter being the less expensive option.

I'm running Avon ZZ5, which are Avon's new flagship performance tyre, and replaces the ZZ3. Excellent grip wet and dry, and doesn't cost the earth. Fair amount of rim protection too, just in case you have a brush with a kerb

I have Pirelli P Zeros on my coupe which seem ok but never seem to get a mention when discussing tyre choices. Is this because they are not particularly cheap or just not a great choice??

They do seem a good price. Wasn't looking at Dunlop before, but I might now.

Any opinions on Hankook K110 or Toyo? I believe Hankook are premium tyres and seem to be a fairly good price.

was speaking with a garage on Saturday and they couldn't speak highly enough about Hankook! they said they are amazing tyres and are cheap because they don't have the name like the others

OMG what an advert!!

Never heard of that model - I know the ZE912/914 are their touring tyres, and the FK452/453 are their performance range though.

I've fitted Hankooks to the rear after trying 4 on the S-max. Very happy with them, similarly priced to 453's but directional rather than asymmetric so can be moved from side to side (if swapped on the wheels obviously) which given the Zeds wear pattern, might extend the life a bit. A bit quieter on road noise too I think and so far very good in the wet. No protracted scrubbing in period either

I think you've got a little confused.

Directionals can't be swapped side to side as the direction would be reversed - unless you take the tyres off the rims and refit them.

Asymmetrics can be swapped on-wheel though.

It's one of the reasons I don't use directionals.

As I said, "if swapped on the wheels obviously" :)

Asymmetrical have an outer and inner edge (or certainly mine are marked so) so while they can be swapped, the inner remains the inner which means on a car which wears the inners more than the outers, you'd get no benefit from moving them.
