I’m sure it’s been mentioned before but I have just changed my run flats for non run flats. Pirelli p-zero was my choice and I have to say what a difference :D I would highly recommend doing this and as a result I have a set of 4 run flats for sale. :driving: I should have done this sooner.
 
I had to almost give away my run flats at the time
 
Good choice, I changed over from runflats a few weeks ago and the difference is remarkable. I use mine for commuting and its so much easier to live with, like you I should have done it years ago :headbang:
 
Just a question on this, did you all have 19 inch wheels? Just wondered if the benefit of going away from run flats is the same with 19 inch wheels. I am coming up to replacement of tyres so thinking which way to go.

cant speak for the others but I’m running 19’s and non rft.

It’s almost more important to change when using 19’s. As the wheel size goes up the rubber thickness goes down usually as well to keep a similar rolling diameter. That means less absorbtion of shock and ultimately cracks alloys.

Ditch the runflats and get some premium rubber on :thumbsup:

I use Vredstein ultrac vortis and will keep going back for more until they stop making them. Just make sure you keep two or three cans of tyre weld in the boot.
 
Ive just changed my Pirelli's (happy with them) to Goodyear Eagle F1s (better rating in the wet) on my 19s, on the rears this time I went for 255/35/19 instead of 255/30/19. Does feel more comfortable and hopefully will protect the rims a bit more but looking at the state of the roads that will be hard.

I have the 19inch wheels and wouldn’t go back to run flats :driving:

I was going to get the slightly greater profile on the backs but was advised by quite a few not to do it. It’s done with the lower profile for a reason as doing this will raise the back and geometry of the rear will be sacrificed by uneven tyre wear.
 
Thanks everyone, looks like non run flats for me then. Just need the cash for the 4 tyres now as I am assuming mixing them wouldn't be good - and they are all getting on a bit now anyway.

If u have a mate with a Costco card, they do good deals...

While the car was in at BMW I spoke to service dept and they said it would be fine, the car feels more comfortable to drive and every depression in the road surface is not as noticeable
 
I need to change as I am sick of the go cart twitch and I'm really hoping dumping the runflats will cure it, best describe it as the electric twitch on the front wheels you get on a remote control car when you turn it on and the sender/receiver is buggered. When it does that at 60mph it scares the s**t out of you. :headbang:
 
Need to change my rear tyres so looking at going non rft but so much life left in the fronts - surely it makes no difference to have non rft on the back and rft on the front !
 
I'm joining the club, currently on 17" run flats (E89);
so if I go for 255/35/19 non RFs that should be a good fit without need for spacers?
