New tyres pulling to the left

Had 4 new Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy IIs fitted and I'm very impressed after ditching the Vreds, the ride has improved enormously, far less road noise and creaks and rattles that were once there have now gone too. Grip and feel will be reviewed when it stops raining :(

However, all this has come at a small cost, my car is now pulling slightly to the left, it's not a huge issue but enough for me to notice, the fitter suggested they needed time to bed in. It wasn't doing this on the Vreds new or worn, I'm due to get an alignment done to check nothing is out but I read on here that the M is known to pull to the left, can anyone confirm. I also read that a solution was to dial in a tad more camber on the left side to compensate if nothing was out of spec.

I'm also going to try and swap the fronts around see if that makes a difference as the tyres are non directional.

Can anyone also confirm if Hunter Alignment works on lowered Ms? The first place I took the car too couldn't get their (not hunter) equipment inside the front arch, not enough clearance apparently.

All responses appreciated.

Had mine alligned on one with no problems. Not sure what they pulling to the left is all about though?

Certain tyre constructions need more 'bedding in' than others, some none at all. My new tyres pulled randomly one way or another for nearly 300 miles before it finally stopped. It was an agonising 300 miles, I thought I'd made a huge mistake in tyres, but now I'm very pleased.

Some constructions apparently need many heat and work cycles before the materials work together instead of independently.

Hunter works fine on our lowered rides. Road Force balancing while you're at it. I had the exact opposite impressions coming from the Goodyear's to the Vreds. I found the Vreds had much better grip in both dry and wet conditions, and only got greasy towards the end of track days (only fault). Both are much lower noise than comparable tires, however the Vreds have a much longer bed-in time as I recall.

Thanks for the responses guys, i'll get it booked in. I haven't tested the grip fully yet but much preferred the way I could catch the back end when having a play. The Vreds are very heavy tyres in comparison and I won't ever be going back, on Uk roads the difference was night and day, no more crashiness.

i put these tyres on my audi tt S and strangely it started doing the exact same thing yet before didnt have this issue!!! Great tyre however and i love how "chunky" the sidewall is.....

z4m on pss doesnt move left or right at all............. never has done.

Has it got better after bedding in?

No..... its stayed the same, ive had them on for around 4000 miles now.... but 110% noticed the same thing..... its very noticeable on my audi yet with the michelins on before it didnt??

Maybe something I'll have to get dialled out then, it's not bad enough for me to be annoyed but it's there if you know what I mean.

A few years back there were quite a number of owners saying their 'M's pulled slightly to the left IIRC. On the motorway at cruise there was a tendency for the car to pull that way slightly. Various solutions were suggested but don't think anything was ever fully resolved. Swapping tyres around, alignment check, dialing in extra camber all worked for some but not others.

I'm on the OEM Conti M3's, whilst I understand there are better tyres to be bought now it tracks suprisingly well and true - in fact much better than any previous car I can had. I've never had the geo checked.

Just to update, had a look at my struts and my camber was off slightly on the passenger side, DIY fix for now but it's going in for an alignment next week. Another hundred miles now and it seems to be improving.

Can anyone explain how assymetric tyres and Vredesteins' weird tread pattern can operate as well as symmetrical or directional tyres? How can they have equal gyroscopic effect and how they have the same water displacement characteristics on opposite sides of the same axle ?

I have often wondered about this

It's not my tyres tried another set of wheels and same problem. My left front caliper is sticking a bit.
