New Tyres needed question :)

Good Morning,

It's MOT time and I've got to replace my front tyres, I replaced my rears last year and they still have a good 6mm left they Conti Sport Contact 3's

My Question is can I put Sport Contact 5's on the front? Or will it have an adverse effect? I'm guessing it should be fine. I would have gone VREDS all round but will wait until the rears have gone down.

Cheers for any advice :)

I replaced all four tyres at the same time, then sold the ones that had good tread on here... Just a thought if you want same tyres all round

Installed my CSLs on friday went from 18s with M PS2s to 19s with Vreds US and the car is completely transformed, the front sticks, the ride is sublime in comparison so much less scitty should say I have H&R lowering springs.

I would go all round Vreds

Mine are still scrubbing in and just wow.

Hmmm, sounds like a great idea but a recent house move and avoiding divorce kind of limits my options :)

So I'm guessing that using Conti SP5 and SP3 won't have a terrible impact on the handling? :driving:

Usual rule is to keep tyres matched in axle pairs so you should be fine.

As to which tyres, wheels, sizes are best on an 'M' Opinions vary!

Will be fine , i'am running Rft's on the front & Conti contact 5 on the rear of my 335d with no probs ,change them when you can !

Slight topic diversion but Tom, you know what's coming................

You should be fine with different tyres front and rear until you can install the same model on all corners.

I'd agree with that. I've got two tyre fitters in my family. Both have given me the same advice in the past....

Lol, strange opinion, Ps2s are regarded as the holy grail, I've just scrapped my Vreds for some Goodyear Eagle F1s Asy 2 and wow, just wow! The car is riding bumps far better, not had a chance to stretch them yet but so far so good.

Vreds are also known to be horrible for the first 300-400 miles, can make the car especially the rear end feel floaty, I have also been told they are a heavy tyre, apparently my new ones are about 1.5kg lighter per corner.

I liked my Vreds, they always gripped well in all conditions but I don't think they are on par with the new stuff, Conti 5p, Supersports and Eagle F1s.

Biggest issue is that people tend to compare new tyres with worn so difficult to know for sure.

Dont worry im working on it

They are also the best pics yet the car looks amazing so happy with it. But wont go into too much... just gone over 1000 posts over 6 months so I plan on making a new thread

I know the PS are known as the holy grail and I was extremely skeptical with changing to vreds. Maybe because I have H&R springs my 18s were running the standard sizes. They were brand new when I bought the car, they have around 5.5mm left all round when I took them off on friday.

The Vreds just seem much grippier at the front, and the car has much less skitter on uneven surface and rides pot holes better, not sure if its because of the wider profile. But they seem much better only driven like 250 miles on them and im really very happy. When switching them over they felt a lot lighter than the 18s in hand.. (OEM CSLs with vred vs OEM 18s with PS) I dont know maybe its me. But I will be using the 18s with the PS for a few track days.

As soon as they were put on there was a monsoon and I had 20 miles to drive but they seemed very good although I didnt risk pressing, wait till they scrub first.
