New tyre time - Recommendations welcome!

Hi guys,

Decided to purchase four new tyres and ditch the run flats altogether. Reason being is I have an MOT advisory for one of the front tyres and a puncture on the rear which has been driven on for several miles. Also, the cost and driving experience..!

Currently browsing Black Circles and I've got a 'is this price too good to be true' moment.

Based on my spec, the stand-out tyres showing up are:

FRONT:
Falken Ziex ZE-914 Ecorun 225/40 R18 W92 £87.99 each fitted.
or
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 225/40 R18 Y92 £102.49 each fitted.

REAR:
Falken Ziex ZE-914 Ecorun 255/35 R18 W90 £132.99 each fitted.
Falken Azenis FK-453 (Reinforced) 255/35 R18 Y94 £136.99 each fitted.
or
Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 255/35 R18 Y94 £160.99 each fitted.

Are these any good and is it worth the extra opting for the 'reinforced' tyres? Given that the run flats I was previously looking at were over £200 each, these are obviously a lot cheaper.

Also, when switching to non-runflats, did anyone here go on to purchase a spare tyre, just in case?
 
I love my Goodyear Eagles, missing their amazing road holding abilities at the moment as I am running winters. They are also a lot quieter than the Vredsteins we used to run.

I don't have a spare, relying on a friendly AA man
 
I also have Goodyear Eagles and they are great tyres in the summer and really grip the road very well :D
 
I have just ditched the runflats for goodyear asymmetrics 2 and even in a few miles have noticed a massive difference. Ride is so much more comfortable compared to before. I got the full set fitted for just under £500.

I decided to get the compressor and sealant kit to keep in the car incase. I went with the one from http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/251302402729 as they make alot of the kits for the car manufacturers, only difference is a badge an over £100 mark up. I may get a space saver at a later date but not sure.
 
Hi, I ditched runflats last year and went with continental contisport 5's, very good reviews and can say great improvement from bridgestone runflats. Got a compressor, looked at space saver 17 inch to cover my 18's but not cheap and decided too much space in boot would be taken. When I was choosing the brand found loads of websites with user reviews, especially America so was able to ensure no mistakes. Definitely do not go directional tyres as I made that mistake, it was like running with tyres shaped like 50 p's!!. Best of luck in your choice.
 
Another vote for Goodyear Eagle f1 assy2s. Mine have been fantastic over summer; and after 8,000miles I've still got a good 6mm of tread all round.

Definitely recommended :)
 
The 914's aren't the decent falkens, the 453's are, so don't get those.

Got eagle f1's on mine and love them.
 
Michelin Super Sport - expensive but great tyre..

Uniroyal on the front - I found are excellent in the wet.
 
Thanks everyone. After much deliberation I have opted for the Goodyear Eagle F1 all round. Mobile fitter booked in for tomorrow :thumbsup:
