New tyre options

I need to start thinking about new rear tyres as they will need replacing in the coming months, down to about 4 to 4.5mm at the moment. I currently have Falken 452's but I can't seem to find them online, Black Circles do a Falken Ziex ZE-914 are these as good as 452's? Or do I need to consider a different brand for decent performance? If so I'll probably need to change all 4 tyres :(

Advice welcome

Try here. My falkens were worn lasts week. 452's have been replaced with 453's now.i when for the Michelins, different class. Great prices on here & will last a lot longer than budget tyres. Vreds get good reviews on here too. It's fine to run different brand of tyres as long as you keep the same axle the same.

Any idea how the 453's compare

I know what you are saying about not needing to change all 4 but if the new rears I get are better quality than the front tyres I feel i may be shortchanging myself and only getting half the benefit

just checked tread depth as it was about a month or so ago I last checked and the rears are now down to 3mm so need to change soon :(

Fronts are just under 6mm so i guess it's a waste to junk those maybe 453's are the best bet? need to check reviews

Kamskill do the highly rated Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymetric 2 for £145 each which sound reasonable

You won,t fault the F1,s , i have them on TT , personal choice for me would be either of the 2 vreds offered & save £40/ £50 ?

I just replaced mine with Hankooks seem pretty good :D

Just thinking of replacing my Bridgestone run flats not because I have had problems but they will need replacing soon, was originally going to replace like with like but seeing as everyone says the car drives better with non run flats I thought I would go that way.

So was looking at either Avon ZV5 or Hankook Ventus Prime 2 - K115, have read some really good reviews on Hankook and they have a slightly better EU rating than the Avon’s, B for fuel efficiency and B for grip in wet.

Running 453's and (albeit stupidly) I've driven the car quite hard in colder weather.

Once temperature is in them, super happy with them, cold is a different scenario (obviously shouldn't be much of a surprise to most).

The nature of the 453's at least (can't speak for others) is the compound is pretty soft, so they will wear faster than other tyres.

Knowing this though, they're still fantastic tyres and I'd certainly recommend them.

i just change all my tyres for hankooks was cheaper to replace them all than change two runflats. Also feels like a complete different car love it!

Full set of NON Run Flat Goodyear F1's on 3.0 Sport and they are v good. Conti Sport Contacts my other fave from previous cars - Focus ST3 with Conti was awesome. Neither F1 or Conti are cheap of course but tend to go for top makes where tyres are concerned

I just changed the Run Flats last week with vredestein ultrac sessanta.

I had a Hunter alignment done at the same time. Total cost fitted and balanced with alignment was £518.

I got a bit of a discount on the tyres as they hadn't ordered in the Falcons I wanted.

The Alignment was just £40 as it only needed some toe out on the front. Said it needed more camber on the rear as well but we agreed to leave it as the rears were ever so slightly worn on the insides.

Bargain and great service at Ladybank Tyres, Fife.

Well ive booked mine with a local fitter who matched price of kamskill for set of 4 goodyear eagle f1 asymetric 2s

£550 in total i felt if i was upgrading the rears i should also upgrade the fronts to maximise the benefit

Ill give a review afterwards if it was worth the extra cost

I've got Goodyear Eagle F1s As2 on my new zed.

Haven't had a proper hoon in the dry yet, but look forward to it. They get pretty good reviews, but reckon I'll go Vred Ultrac Sessanta for next round of tyres

Im running 453s on the rear and 452s on the front. Find them generally a pretty good all rounder and really good value.

The only gripe is a lack of rim protection..

I had no complaints at all with my Hankook V12 K110's, Very good in the wet and great in the dry. I liked them so much a set went on the wife's 328i for summer use. If you do track days and want the absolute maximum from your Zed, Then you might do a little better with a higher end brand.

I'm in this predicament myself, stuck between Eagle F1's (had them before on a Focus albeit 17" and they were great) and a set of Sessantas. Has anyone had both on their car that can compare?

Has anyone had any experience of the Eagle F1 ASY 2 Runflat? It's listed as a mercedes recommended tyre but according to tyre-shopper it can be fitted to any vehicle.

I currently have the standard Bridgestone runflats all round but as the rears have plenty of life left in them I would just be putting Eagles on the front for the timebeing.

Well I got my F1s fitted today and got the geometry checked and adjusted the front was out on one side and the back was quite a lot out.

Only driven a couple of miles so far but initial impression is a softer ride and the steering seems less troubled by tram lining but will give a proper report once I've put a few miles on a variety of roads. They have really good rim protection compared to the falkens and the compound seems much softer also.
