No... it's a long story. Took some guitars in p/ex for some work. Caught the bug again and bought a couple that I wanted... just a very happy amateur musician!!
 
My wife has an electro acoustic, no idea what brand. When I'm good she let's me pluck the strings. I'm a beginner though, so only a few chords for me.
 
Wow! Nice collection.

I've got a les Paul epiphone. My dads always been a strat man but I preferred gibsons.

He had a 1957 (I think) les Paul gold top years back.......worth about 10k now and he swapped it for a knackered sg.

More like £40k for a '57 Goldtop these days... definitely not the best swap for an SG :cry:
 
Nice collection.

Every couple of years I get back into playing again. I've sold most of my guitars over the years and do regret getting rid of nearly all of them. I do however keep a 1976 Olympic white strat with custom shop hand wound pickups and a 1976 black Gibson Les Paul studio in the back of my wardrobe. I'll keep them forever, 1976 was the year I was born so that was the significance.

I was always more into the Gibson sound but I have to say I prefer my strat now. It's so light and easy to play and with the right pickups the sound can be so versatile. Also sounds great with a VOX valve amp.

I'd definitely say I'm a Les Paul man at heart, but I'm exploring different sounds at the moment. My strat was a recent purchase and I'm surprised at how nicely it plays... looking for a Telecaster at the moment...
 
I play the guitar now and again, piano is my true passion tho.

I work as a professional pianist on the weekend, play at weddings, corporate functions etc. Played at some nice venues round the country like the Nec, the belfry, etc etc

Nice to earn money from something you enjoy :thumbsup:
 
That fuller Gibson sound does suit my playing better (sloppy so all the mistakes are really noticeable with the cleaner Fender sound). I looked for a telecaster a while back. The sound was a bit thin for my liking so I may try one of the humbucker versions or maybe a jaguar or jazz master with p90s.

I know what you mean. Sloppy is a pretty good way to describe my playing too!! I just love the sustain of Les Paul... the 'new toy' has been set up with phased pickups for a proper Peter Green Blues sound. Really nice.
 
I love my les Paul classic and SG standard, the les Paul is in vintage sunburst and SG is cherry red,
I'm a Gibson man through and through, even got it tattooed on my arm haha

And to top it all off 2 years after I got my les Paul I discovered I share the same birthday with the late great man himself :o
