Having sold my e85, kinda sorry to see it go, was a cracking car, I picked up this yesterday, so far very pleased. 20i M Sport, cream interior, 56000 miles. 2 little niggles, so far, phone won’t connect (in discussion elsewhere on here) and the Ash tray lid won’t shut, had it apart and I’m buggered if I can see why. Found a little Staple shaped pin laying underneath which may have something to do with it, but I can’t see how or where it may fit? Any ideas?

Welcome to the club! Looks like a nice motor. Can't say I'm able to help with the ashtray issue. Hope you manage to get it sorted. I usually find the parts diagrams on Real OEM very helpful for figuring out how things are put together when stuff like this comes up. Maybe there might be something there that can help.

Im sure it is. Unfortunately you will have to take the ashtray out as this is the underside if it.

thats not a problem, I’ve had it out once already, was pretty simple, thats how i found the pin. Thanks for this, I’ll give it a go

Really clean looking E89, has a deep gloss look in those pics - very nice
