New toy

looks great! I had a couple of classic Minis with my best one being a Mini 30 i had about 10 or so years ago. Spent 2 years building it back up, dropped a John Cooper works engine in it but had it looking standard and then had it for 2 months before someone went into the back of me and put me into a wall and drove off! :headbang:

Always looking for another as i feel it is an itch i still need to scratch properly! Could never be angry driving the old minis!

I've been looking for a 1966 Mini at the right price for a while. Needs to be a basket case because I want to take it back to nothing and start from scratch, I know it'll cost money but old cars are my hobby!
They're brilliant fun to drive.
Why does it have to be a 66 Mini, year of birth by any chance
Aye thats it
Cooper S too expensive so standard will do and I'll put a 1275 or 1300 in....chomping at the bit!

You don't want to start swapping engine sizes around if you want to stay tax free - mines a standard 1000cc but I've got a stage 3 head to go on - I will change to the later hif44 carb though. Have you read this?

Good shout about tax free, although the Government will probably change the goalposts again at some point! I'll look into the tuning, I'm not interested in a pocket rocket just something to keep up with modern traffic and throw around roundabouts!
The book looks like something I'll buy, not seen it before, I'll check on the Net later .
Cheers for the info .

Must admit, my sons standard Mini 1000 had no issues staying with the traffic, these are pretty nippy little cars. The go cart handling is still legendary.
That's a handy storage system Harry

I loved my mini in my youth - Full race motor, straight cut box etc etc
First engine 999s then 1293s- Happy Days

All I've got left is one tatty photograph and a 10" Motalita steering wheel :( but a lot of memories :D

You know what they say! :worthless:

I'm sure we'll accept a mobile phone photo of a photo

Yes, I’ve read that book :P
I had a 1293cc engine with an lcb exhaust and downdraught carb, 12g940 cylinder head and front disc brake conversion on my old mini

Not me, that's for sure!

Never had one, never liked them either.

My first decade of driving was exclusively RWD - so plenty of Fords.

Probably why my last decade of driving has been all BMW.
