Agree Tim and I don't know why they don't put them on all the models to be fair and my old M3/X5/Z4 all had them as standard and they were good in that you knew when you could open the taps without potentially causing the engine harm.

Its a great mod and it fits in really well will this motor be another stunningly well looked after low mileage example as well 8)

As the odo is showing just over 700 miles after 9 months it's probably fair to assume it'll be low mileage :lol:

Thanks Lee, it's all part of my OCD but not necessarily a good thing at times, friends if mine think I'm crackers spending 3 hours each weekend cleaning a car lol, maybe they have a point but it's good to see the results and receive compliments

looks a decent gadget... never really saw the point in the lights around the rev counter on the m's they reflected water temp, so to my mind were a bit of a catch 22. always used to use the oil temp, which is missing in a lot of cars now.

Its kinda the same as having no traditional oil dipstick on later BMWs, I think manufacturers feel these things like temp gauges aren't needed anymore with increased engine reliability and longevity.

Unless, of course, you live somewhere where the summer's are just too hot and the winters are just right 8)

Goes back to when I had the E89 as I was too tight to shell out the £1750 BMW wanted for a set of winter wheels so I took the cheaper option of fitting the Z3 with aftermarket alloys and all season tyres which have done the job perfectly in bad weather. Still the same scenario with the 1 Series if I want to use it over winter I would need get some winter tyres etc which aren't cheap. I'm probably a little too cautious maybe running a 320bhp motor on summers in the snow :?

Having said that I've had the roof down a fair bit on the Z3 over winter in fact I actually prefer it on a cool day with heaters on than a boiling hot sumners day as I don't tan :lol:
