new top: ebay?

my top has been damaged (vandalism :thumbsdown: ) so I need a new one. However, they are way too expensive from BMW.

Has anyone tried one of these suppliers from the US you see on ebay?

a lot cheaper than an original top, but is it good quality? And how much would fitting cost?

Those prices are more then they are from a dealer. It is only a couple of hundred pounds for an OEM version. Remember, it is only the cloth you replace - not the entire roof.
