New to Z4, new to forum

Hello to you all,
As an intro, name is Graham, and I'm waiting for a bit of a special 2009 Z4 to arrive at my BMW dealer. It is coming to them when the owner's new BMW arrives in early Sept.
I am deeply into motorsport and hillclimb a sports racer with a 3.2 Porsche engine fitted by myself, have hill climbed for 22 years now.
Also own a 1973 Porsche 911 hotrod, a Skoda Superb (tow car/daily) and the wife's Toyota iQ, so a petrol-head.
I hope I'm in good company!

The Z4 is a 2.5 litre, sports auto with Pure White Design pack, 19" wheels and Black Sapphire paint. 16K miles only with a heap of options ticked off when ordered, about £8K in 2009 prices.

Before it arrives, I need to sort the insurance, prob limited miles but fully comp etc.

I have the Skoda with Hastings direct, but they have baulked at all the options listed, and need to seek advice before giving me a quote.

I would be very interested to hear about good companies (ie fair price for a good policy schedule) to try from anyone.

I'm really looking forward to this 'fun-time-only' car for days out and a few Euro trips since I've just taken early retirement.
Lastly, this is the first time ever i have bought a car unseen and un-driven, so nervous. I get to see the car in 2 weeks time when it arrives and before the clean-up team at the dealer get stuck-in.
I'm trusting this is a good cruising car. I know it looks just great, the leather might take some getting used to but it will be far far from bland!

Welcome to the madhouse. You will love the Zed and seeing how you love cars you will love your Zed immediately.

I am no use to you regarding insurance as I just look in the usual places but happy waiting, torture!!

Welcome, enjoy your new car when you get it. :driving:

My insurance broker is Grove and Dean the insurer I think is Ageas. I've never had to claim but they are very good to deal with and their prices are very fair.

Put up some pics of your hill climb car and hotrod please.

Hi and welcome, pics of the other cars please.

Regarding the insurance, you could try classic line, insured my zed with them when it was only 5 years old.

Also try diamond - Ive found them to be very reasonable

Thank you all for your warm welcome.
When I get the car I'll post some pics, hope it will be a stunner on 19's and the white int/black paint.

Here are the others in the 'fleet' so to speak as requested:-

This is the 1978 Lola T 492 hill climb car with 3.2L 911 engine and a few more mods (!), 247 bhp/560Kg:

And this the 1973 911 hotrod with a 3.2L engine and many under the skin mods, my first hill climb car, owned since 1988:

Love the Lola. Looks awesome under the skin and must be something else to drive with power / weight ratio.

Hi and welcome.

Hope that the Zed turns out to be everything you hope for - I bet it will!

Don't forget the pics upon collection!

This is a VERY long wait for the car. Still waiting for an ETA.

In the mean time I've been looking at insurance!

Thought I would share my personal experiences.

Tried Hastings direct as my Skoda superb is with them. £1041 for 5k miles, £998 for 10k miles.....hated the factory options

Tried Chris Knott: superb service, sharp yet simple: £445 for 5K miles, factory option not an issue

Tried LV on-line: £239 for 10K miles! Factory options not an issue.(did not select courtesy car option)

To balance the equations, LV were £100 more expensive to insure my Skoda and £10 more to insure my Toyota iQ

Might get the Zed in 10 days time. Planning a tour of north Wales to 'celebrate' this new addition. :D
