...and hopefully soon to be new to Z4 ownership!

Thought I'd say a quick hello and many thanks so far on lots of useful pre purchase advice.

I'm after an '03 3 litre, not too fussed about colour although the sterling grey is a favourite, preferably under 75K with electric / heated seats and a fBMWsh. Yep, the full wish list! Looking to add cruise control and the Gap-tech remote module in due course.

Anyway, look forward to posting some pics as and when I take the plunge!

Thanks for the welcome WLH and Gannet.

One question if I may...I've been to see a few Zeds now and one thing has puzzled me on one of them. The roof wouldn't open without the engine running. The other two operated fine without. Must admit I cant remember if the ignition was on.

Obviously in day to day practice I imagine its better to have to engine running to help the battery along but I wondered if the one that wouldn't operate without the engine running had a fault or the wrong AMPh battery or something like that? Just useful to know as the search continues.

Many thanks

Cheers chaps -i know its not good practice to do it without the engine running, but i wanted to see if it was programmed on the fob

Opening the roof with the engine not running will put more stress on the car battery, but besides that I don't see any downside of using it..

Just seen the above...perhaps it was a fault on the one I saw.

Welcome

'03 with a BMWSH - you'll be lucky. I can't imagime many have kept that service book intact at BMW rates for that length of time. Focus on condition and regular servicing rather than BMW.

Roof opens with ignition on. No issue to open and close without and I do it at least once every single day on mine through all but Winter when hardtop is on, with remote module and more if outside. Smaller battery that oem too.

BTW - hope you don't confuse people as there's only one 'CJ' here :)

Cool, I've seen one that had plenty of early BMW stamps but the later ones were other garages and plenty of paperwork so may take a closer look at that one.

Thanks for the advice one CJ to another
