Just picked up a 2005 Z4 3.0i 6 speed manual with 141K miles. It was throwing engine codes and the suspension was pretty bad when I got it. The power top also doesn't work. I have replaced the shocks, struts, mounts, bumps stops and belows a long with the sway bar links. I still had a rattle that went away when I tightened the struts brace nuts. The engine code was a 'bank 1 or 2 too lean'. I found a video that pointed to the throttle body boot. Sure enough, it was torn so I replaced that. The car is now running really nice (knock on wood). I am really happy with it.
I did relocate the to motor to the trunk. It was low on hydraulic fluid. As I added more fluid and ran the top, I could see a puddle of fluid coming out of the driver side drain holes onto the ground. I suspect a hose or hinge. Seems much more involved than just replacing the motor unfortunately...
Anyways, I can easily open and close the top manually from in the car. Thanks for adding me to the forum and thanks for all the help I have already received fixing the above things.....
