New (to me!) M40i

I’ve just purchased this 2019 M40i and generally absolutely thrilled! It drives like a dream and has a lot more character than a lot of the reviews said. I also just adore the styling of it. One aspect of this ‘character’ however revealed itself twice on the way home from the garage, and I’m not entirely sure it’s not a fault… has anyone else noticed, in sport mode plus, after a quick deceleration there’s sort of a short period of kangaroo-ing where the car sort of lurches forward as if trying to accelerate again? It’s as though it’s jumped down to first gear too quickly. It happened twice en route home on A Roads, in both cases because someone ahead of me slowed without warning to make a sharp turn, and even though it braked fine, it then proceeded to do three or four sort of jumps forward? Is this a known quirk of the gearbox in sport plus or does it sound like a fault to you experienced Z4ers?

Congratulations on the new car, great colour combination!

In sports mode the throttle blips as you slow so this maybe what you are experiencing?

Cheltenham car no good? I think it’s sold now anyway as disappeared from autotrader which is why I asked.
I just felt it needed a lot of TLC; which I’m sure the garage would have given it before sale, but it felt like it was priced high for something which looked so neglected, if that makes sense? Obviously different people have different priorities, but all the leather was coming off the seats, there was mould in places, and it was grimy in the extreme. I wouldn’t be surprised if it had been taken down while they did some restoration work on it. I’m sure they’ll make it quite perfect again but having seen it in that state first I think I’d just always been on the lookout for signs of former neglect!

That’s a surprise, didn’t look like that from the photo’s at all - that’s the definitely the BMW Cheltenham main dealer car?

It had only done something like 19k miles.

Yep, that’s the one, crazy low mileage. We were were… surprised to say the least when we actually saw it!

It’s surprising how quickly a car gets mould inside if it’s just been left unused, if it’s done low milage that’s the likely reason. Maybe the owner was ill, couldnt drive , maybe even died and nobody took any action for months.
There is nothing like not using a car to make it look really tatty

Only time I've ever had mould in a car was due to a leaking soft top...
