New to forum and Z4M Coupe

Just wanted to say hello to everyone

Had my eyes set on an Z4M Coupe for a while and got myself a 56 reg Z4M coupe in Interlagos Blue over the weekend!

Already done 300miles and loving every minute of driving it :D

It replaced my previous car which was an Audi A3 that also had a 3.2litre engine but there is no comparison. The engine is just awesome!

Got to do a few things to do like adding in an auxiliary input for my mp3 player but other than that it's perfect.
I can see myself happily driving the car for many years to come

Just out of curiosity has anyone used paint protection like Ventureshield for their cars? Is it worth it?

Thanks

Taka

Welcome!

I can't believe I got in first, but here goes: :worthless:

I've got Armourfend on mine, and it's awesome. No stone chips and bugs come straight off. I don't know about Ventureshield. PVR on here has some sort of Dutch witchcraft protecting his Z4MR.

Re the aux in, have a search on here for Intravee before you do that (assuming you're talking about iPod).

Welcome to the forum :D

I think my car had some kind of protection on it when I bought it but I never topped it up/renewed it.... led to alot of chipping happening to the lower part of the bumper which eventually needed a respray. Dunno whether the coating had an effect or not but have read that it might do :?

As raify on the AUX - intravee is apparently good though I make do with the AUX :D

And yes get some piccies :D

Congrats Tata.
Picked mine up just over a week ago and enjoying it the more I drive it. It`s a little different for me as I`m not new to the Z4 (owned a 3.0 Coupe previously) so I can imagine how it must feel to someone new to the Z4.

The 'wipe on' protection systems have very little protection against stone chips, however the film-based ones (Armorfend, Paintshield, Ventureshield, etc.) all provide a physical barrier to stone-chips and are available in everything from bonnet leading edge, bumpers, wings, skirts, roof, mirrors, etc. The more you pay the more you can have fitted.

You'll still get some dimples in the plastic bumper as the film can't absorb all of the impact, but it will stop it chipping and rusting.

Make sure you get something that is UV stable, and with a warranty, as you don't want to remove it sometime in the future to find you've got a two-tone car.

Also, make sure you get all the paintwork properly corrected BEFORE you get any film installed - otherwise you'll have car that has 90% of it's bodywork looking like a mirror and the film bit looking a bit poor in comparison.

Welcome Taka. Congratultions on your purchase.

Are you sure you haven't got the Aux in already?
Mine's a 56 plate and it has the aux in. TBH I didn't find it initially and had no idea it was there as it's not easy to spot sat in the drivers or passenger seat. Have a feel around on the downward facing ledge under the stereo. The aux in is located roughly above where the cigarette lighter is located.

Got to back up Raify too....... PICS..!!! :poke:

Thanks for your welcome everyone!

I'll get pictures up hopefully tomorrow. I've got a half-day at work which means I can take it for a drive somewhere nice (provided the weather holds up!) to take pics and also tap into some of the car's potential!

I'm afraid I'm not an Ipod user so an Aux in will be what I need...I'll have another good look around just to make sure that car's not already fitted with it. Hopefully it's not a tricky process if I do need to install it.

As for the paintwork protection it seems to be worth the effort. Anyone know of a dealer around London/Surrey area?

Hi and welcome, AUX was only standard on 07MY onwards cars and as said found on the panel on the underside of the dashboard below the A/C controls.

But as others have said look at Intravee as well, costs more but much better IMO.

PVR is the only man I know to have tortured his car to protect the paint. :poke:

This is the one place on the interweb to go if you want help on fitting the aux-in, we've covered it to death  8)

Taka, you are being advised by idiots here. Nobody actually knows the answer to your question but all the usual daily pratts seem to know everything - but nothing. Speak to BMW UK. :headbang:

AUX HAS been covered many times here and many of us (myself included) have fitted it ourselves... how qualified do you have to be?

Thanks to everyone again for their welcome!

It seems my 56 reg car doens't have the Aux In :(
Now the Intravee that some of you have been recommending...is it true you can't have it alongside a 6 CD changer?

I've managed to get some pics as requested...but I don't think I'm doing the car justice. Anyway, here goes! :P
