New to detailing.

Used clay bar for a few years now with no problems. Picked up clay mitt but haven't used it yet. You'll get the same outcome would expect. Maybe easier,not working the clay in your hand. :thumbsup:
 
I've used both, the clay mitt is ten times faster & achieves the same result-did my e89 this morning in double quick time :thumbsup:

So ... I'll try a clay mitt first then! Do you lubricate with anything? - Water? - Some special jollop?
 
I have used both but the mitt is the way to go.

I followed the instructions (amazingly!) and bought the detailing spray made by the same people who make the mitt they sell at Halfords. I have read that you can use washing up liquid instead.

Remember to post some pics to show off your new detailing skills! :)

Someone will want to know (not me of course) what you plan to do once clay mitted.

Just use your normal car wash shampoo, keep the mitt soapy & it won't marr the paint :P

I'm a big fan of the clay mitts now - easy to use and quick too.

Try and purchase in the Halford's 3 for 2 if possible;
Farecla mitt works out at under £9 each then :thumbsup:
 
Sorry to hi-jack the car, i'm also fairly new to detailing, what actually does a clay mitt/clay bar do? My usual process is a good brand car shampoo (I've got meguirs atm), liquid polish and then a coat of liquid wax. Where would a clay mitt come in this process? Sorry if i've said anything dumb, I'd rather ask a stupid question than damage my paint! :rofl:

Thanks you! What differences are there to clay-mitt vs polishing? By the looks of it both are used to smooth paintwork and remove imprefections?
 
hi, the mitt will get rid of contaminants that polishing will not, some of them are to stubborn for polish alone to remove :o
