The fact that your car has run-flats is not a disaster. It's just that there are so many very, very good tires out there that will net much better ride quality, Much better handling, All at a much lower cost. Run flats are getting better though. But they still are on average more expensive and are so stiff that they tend to give a much harsher ride than is really necessary. In addition, Due to that stiffness they also tend to be a nervous tire if there are mid-corner bumps or grooves in the road from heavy trucks. (search for tramlining) BMW will not use run flats on M cars. HMMMM!
Should one be in the boonies and get a flat run-flat and limp to the nearest tire shop (50 miles max). Any more than 50 miles you will most likely be buying a new run flat. As they are designed to get you to a very near tire shop. A lot of tire shops won't fix a run-flat in the first place. That is also slowly changing. But should you need a new one, Most all but the biggest shops normally won't have the size the Zed takes.
While here in Germany I joined ADAC (same as AAA) If I have a flat, I just call them and wait for a flat bed truck. $80 per year. Simple.

I'm not sure ronk. I wasn't too long after the Zed arrived from the states that the tramlining was getting so bothersome. I ditched the Bridgestones post haste. Next time I'm near my local tire shop, I'll ask him about it and post up his answer for those that might be traveling to Germany on RFT's.

It is in the 40's here today. The piles of snow are melting. It has been down in the single digits earlier this week. I have my z4 parked until summer.

I carry tire plugs, gunk, and a compressor. Even with the run flats. That way when/if the tire alarm comes on I can fix the problem before the tire sidewalks are destroyed. Being that I purchased the z4 for fun weekend driving only. Most of my driving is on freeways that are in very good shape.

When I purchased the car it was missing the gray "clown nose" on the rear view mirror. That was my first mod. It looked weird with no clown nose and a little LED hanging down. I wanted a replacement clown nose. My understanding is that this part is not available by itself. I ended up purchasing a entire mirror for a z4 on EBay. I removed the gray clown nose from the EBay mirror and put it on the mirror in the car. Then took lots of pictures and clearly put in the Ebay description that the mirror I was selling was missing the clown nose. The buyer got a deal on the mirror I was selling and I got a replacement clown nose. We were both happy.
