New to BMW, New to 2 seats

Hi,

Newbie from Northamptonshire and want to say that this Forum has been so invaluable on my journey to finding my Z4.

Having had 'track' and 'project' cars on and off for the last 15 years or so and having had to put these to one side whilst raising a family, the time has come to scratch the itch again. Having done the hot hatch, fast saloons and sleeper wagons, the time has come to scratch 2 itches I have never scratched. A BMW and a convertible!!

I have a very specific spec and engine which I have been looking for, Pre 06, manual, 2.2 (M54B22) SE in black and I have come across a car that is not far from home which ticks all these boxes, including red leather interior. Viewing tonight and hopefully seal the deal. I have one very excited 8 year old at home who is already planning our trips.

I will keep you all updated with the sale but needless to say, a Z4 will be arriving in the family soon!!!

Thanks, Tom

Hi and welcome to the forum! Lovely to hear how the 8 y/o is engaged.

Welcome to the madhouse.
May I ask why it has to be the 2.2, when you have 2.5 and 3.0 versions of the same engine?

I'm also curious as I don't see any logic in the choice either.
Insurance thing?

Hi and welcome to the forum Tom.

A straight 6 manual Z4 with red leather sounds great, but as others have said why a 2.2? 2.5 or 3 litre pre-facelifts have the same engine, just a different size so all the running costs are the same.

Anyway don't forget to post a photo or two of your Z4.

Viewing all went well and collect the car tonight.

My main reasons are insurance costs and also my aim is to give the car to my daughter when she is older so again trying to keep it as insurance friendly.

It looks like a well-polished car Tom, has four previous owners and no accident history. The hard top can be sold for a good price, may she give you many trouble-free miles.

That sounds like a good plan.

If it's the one that was for sale on here with the red leather M-Sport seats it looks like you've bought a great Z4!

Yes it was the one for sale on here. It is a great drive and the seats are soooo comfy. Already turned a few heads with the neighbours!!!

Is your 8 year old excited, though, that's the main thing? :)

She was asleep when I got home so I will take her to school tomorrow in it. She won't want to get out of it though.
