I bet they could have designed an exhaust that produces even more power, with an even better sound, with electronic flaps for extra growliness when you feel like it and helmoltz chambers to reduce drone to nothing. They could. But try telling the bean counters to grant a few million quid for R&D for a pair of mufflers!
Yes, but are the aftermarket people gonna put any more than the OEM's into the exhausts? No.
Sorry to say it, but even with the compromise of an OEM exhaust, I bet they still make a better overall package than aftermarkets...
They generally must otherwise no one would ever buy an OEM exhaust after failure.
