New starter motor fitted.

Hi guys,
So I've fitted the new starter motor this afternoon and guess what, it still won't start. 🤬The battery is fine but I'm not getting the sound of the fuel pump motor as I turn the ignition to the 2nd click. When I turn the key fully all I get is the starter motor solenoid noise. Any of you kind people come across this problem on the 2.0 ltr engine. I'm thinking it's a fuel problem.??

Make sure your battery is fully charged and terminals are tight also try a jump start from another vehicle using the power and ground in the engine bay. As to no fuel pump noise check the fuse that controls that circuit. The fact that you only get the starter solonoid to click and not spin the engine over would point to duff battery or connections.

I agree battery. I had a fully charged battery but car wouldn't start. Turns out it was fully charged in terms of volts but was lacking amps. New battery and problem solved.

1st, if you have another key try using it.

2nd, if you're sure the fuel pump isn't starting/running..... The fuel pump and starter are two totally different systems. However, both systems have a common start point, the ignition switch. If your sure the fuel pump isn't starting/running then your ignition switch may be failing/failed.

Our cars have become vintage and an ignition switch failing is not uncommon.

Bad ignition switches can cause no starts, stalling and wild electrical issues sort of like a low battery.

Erase the code and try again. Is the car turning over now or is it just clicking? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ay3lZgDsJ8A&t=276s

It won't erase the code. But.....I've just taken my works van battery off and swapped it over and "Hey presto" it fired up. All this time and it was the battery. Good old AA for you.🤬🤬 They've cost me a small fortune. The moral of the story is, listen to what's said on this forum. Every one has said the battery.🤦😭 You live and learn. Thanks for all your help guys.
