New stablemate for the Z4

My Z4 is my 'fun' car and mainly for the sunny days though I tend to drive that and the previous 2 Porsches I had earlier this year more than my main car, the main car is a 2011 5 series 520d Tourer I bought this as at the time I had a boat and did a lot of sea fishing and needed to lug stuff round, it will be 3 years old next March and I was thinking of changing it for a new 5 Series saloon as I have sold the boat I don't need so much room anymore and the new 5 has a massive boot but it is very deep and its a bit of a reach to get to the back of it, when I took my Z4 in recently for the roof issue the salesman lent me his car, a 5 Series GT and I have to say I was very impressed with it as it so quiet and comfortable considering it was running on 20" Rims and RFT and the rear passenger legroom is massive, the cabin finish is excellent and it's well spec'd up in it's standard guise..... so I bought it, big saving made over a new one, it's just over 2 months old with 2k miles on it '63 plate, 520D GT M Sport, Alpine White\Black leather (Z4 is Alpine White as well so there's a saving on touch up paint lol) 20" Wheels, Pro Sat-Nav, Auto with paddles, reversing camera, heated seats, panoramic sunroof, xenons, etc etc and a 5 year service pack (got the balance of a 5 year service pack on the Z4 as well) pick it up next Tuesday.

From behind the wheel they are very nice indeed. They drive well and the interior is great. They just never sold well in this country. I think as it was a bit awkward looking and nobody really got it... is it a saloon.... is it an all roader type thing.... name suggests sporty. All very confusing but a great car and they have always been great deals due to the reasons above.

I've never been completely sold on them, but I haven't had a proper nose around one and never driven one either. However one of my mates test drove one a few weeks ago and hasn't stopped raving about it

Have to agree you don't see many on the road, I've just travelled down to Kent in the Z4 (I'm staying near to where this tidal surge is expected to hit tonight, Sandwich) and I saw a total of 3 GT's, but to me they look lovely but then I liked the first Vectras when they came out  I was going to have a new 5 series saloon but the GT will fit in nicely between the saloon and tourer, pick it up next Tuesday and time will tell and I've always got my Z for the fun.
