New sound from trunk area

Hello, I've got a 2005 Z4 convertible. I remember hearing this sound once before but haven't heard in a while. After starting the car, I hear a sound coming from somewhere behind the seats (trunk area?). It sounds like an electric motor running. Even though the top is down, it doesn't sound like the motor that runs the up & down function of the top. I'm thinking fuel pump(s)? It seems to run for a few minutes then it quits. If it is the fuel pump, why do I only hear it on rare occasion? When I do hear it, it's right after starting the engine. Once the sound quits, I don't hear it again. Any words of wisdom?...........

Yeh, I've been only getting it out on the weekends. So, last week it happened, and again this weekend. It did seem like last week it didn't last as long. Probably only a minute. This week it was about 5 minutes. It sounds like an electric motor running. Once you drive it and turn the motor off, it doesn't do it again when you come back to it and start it up again.
