New shocks n springs or coilovers

So, as my car is only used as a weekend toy, I've just recently had it mot'd and it passed with an advisory rear shock leaking.
I replaced a front shock not long ago, and in the garage I've got a set of h&r lowering springs I wanted to fit.
So dilemma, do I fit x3 new shocks and the h&r springs, or sell the springs and fit a coilovers kit.
Bearing in mind I only cover around 2-2,500 miles at most a year, car rarely sees the wet roads, (sad I know), and in all fairness I'm a steady driver not one for hardcore hoons, so do I need the coilover kit?
I think it would be cheaper fitting the new shocks as they would cost me around £200, and I've already got the springs, but secretly fancy the coilovers.
Is there any point, would the new shocks and h&r springs last?
Any advice welcome

In the past I have fitted lowering springs, but ive never found that I've been completely happy with the ride height after. However it is obviously a lot cheaper than coilovers.

I just prefer the extra freedom of adjustment with coilovers and I must say I've just fitted a set of BC coilovers and it feels great!

H&Rs are very low, had mine fitted for just over six months, luckily I didn't have to many speed bumps around here as they caused a few issues.

I am in the same boat (Kinda). I went the Eibach Pro route and although looks wise its great, the crashing and banging, handling is not that great on standard shocks. I just sorting the wonga to sell the Eibach pro's and go with a set of D2's or Spax RSX.

I am told by many it the best £600-700 I will spend on the car!

I find the OEM shocks poor ( apart from the ///M ) i had lowering springs and the ride wasnt for me with my set up, so i went for coilovers, the ride will be much better ( shes in the shop as we speak getting them fitted )

Thanks jam, are they passable though, think I'm being tight but don't want to shell out near on a grand including fitting especially on a weekend car that doesn't cover massive miles?

£40 per corner is the usual going rate.

Yeah about £200 whole job, get the BC or D2s, D2s are on e-bay for £650 delivered.
Remember you adjust coilovers to any height that suits your setup. Im goin 35-40mm drop with 5mm spacers on the front, hope i get car back by early next week

BC's are £680

They're taking their time fitting them Jonny! It only took me about 6 hours, a garage should have it done in no time!

Lol im getting new facelift rear bumper with parking sensors, the Reiger diffuser painted and fitting, a new off side front wing, MOT, and spacers on the fronts due to coilovers as well done :roll:

Ah I see! Will be interested to see the Reiger diffuser fitted, I can't decide if I like it! Have you got the dual or quad exhaust?

It should be. Mainly will be for the front as the adjuster can foul the wheel.

I didn't need spacers for my 108's but did for my claws (at the front - 9j et 45)

How on earth are you managing that? I had to take my 20mm spacers off the rear due to the rubbing with the same setup (Eibach Pro and 108s which I believe are the same offset as the ellipsoids?)

No idea :!: But neveer had an issue May do when the coilovers get fitted.
