New Seats

So after a journey that started back in June, my new Z4M seats arrived in NZ and were installed on the day I got them! Huge thanks to @SidewazeSamm who made a massive effort in wrapping them and dropping them off at the freight company in Liverpool, and providing some excellent instructions on how to swap them over. I am officially now an importer in NZ so if I decide to do it again with something else, I have first-hand experience of the pitfalls and all those lovely hidden costs, of which there are a few.

So it is probably the most extravagant thing I think I have ever done, but these seats are like night and day compared to the original SE seats and as Sidewaze Samm says, it makes the driving all the more engaging!

I have a pair that came down from Scotland, a lot easier to post than what you went through I dare say. Looking forward to fitting them, I need give them a good clean and swap my power bases onto these

I've been after a set this colour for ages now, they won't be going anywhere apart from my car Mark :)

Excellent work  . I'm now an 'importer' with an official number etc, thanks to a watch I bought last year. Just means they can load up those 'hidden costs' you mentioned a bit easier I suppose. Still, with GST supposedly now being added at the source (although not in your case with a private sale) I wonder if any of those little surprises will be removed? I'm guessing MAF wanted a look at them (ka-ching...), plus customs fees, plus GST added to the purchase price and shipping. The NZ Govt really doesn't want us buying stuff online, yet much of the stuff I do buy is not available here, so it's not like I can support local business even if I want to.
Enjoy the new seats, you'll wonder why the Z4 didn't come with them as standard on all models - makes the drive much nicer (although some have complained of sore backs after extended driving).

They look great in your car OP.

M-Sport seats have to be the best modification you can make to a Z4.

Tax bill was not actually too bad, but yes, GST on the seats and freight costs. That being said, there was no VAT at the UK end. Biggest cost was the port and importer fees actually, it is amazing how many people get to clip the ticket! I think wheels might be next as the choice of 18" in NZ are very limited. But I do have a set of new 17" to wear out first :D

Just spotted this thread, nice seats, def on my list. Yep, a problem over here, most things I want have to be imported with all the associated costs once you do track down what you want. Well done

Very nice they look as said a must have in an E85.

We have those little suprises when importing here in the UK as I found out when importing a nice boot mat from the States.

They even had a release fee for the parcel among other charges
